Should I noindex pages with only pictures

Hey guys,

I have some posts on my site that only contain images (with a very short introduction). This would probably considered to be thin content by Google I guess, but these posts are really popular with my followers. As I'm going to add many more of these posts would it be best to noindex them? Does this prevent a thin content penalty?

Thx

I have seen many sites with only images on their pages, with very less textual content. As long as visitors are engaged on the page for reasonable duration of time, I think it should not matter. However, I would like to see what other SEO experts have to say in this regard.

I wouldn't worry about the no-index of the picture only pages, as long as your visitors are staying on that page and not bouncing right away, it will be fine.

Ok I'll have a look into the engagement on these pages, I do think they'll have a large bounce rate (people just browse the images and leave).

Why no de-index or noindex the whole site? That'll show 'em who's boss!

Why not take the whole site offline? That's even better! Done and done!

Where and why do you people keep coming up with nonsense ideas?

Who are you listening to? Where? Why?

    That's a bad idea & images aren't thin content.

  • hmm, pictures should compliment your content, if you are just archiving them, it's pretty pointless.

Perhaps you have misunderstood the 'thin' sites thing.
There is no 'lack of content' penalty.

    From Big G...

Make pages primarily for users, not for search engines.
Another useful test is to ask, "Does this help my users? Would I do this if search engines didn't exist?"
Think about what makes your website unique, valuable, or engaging. Make your website stand out from others in your field.

You can rank a page with one image/video and one line of text if the competition is low enough.

I would like to told you that, you need to work on "On Page Side" of the site, use ALT tags in your images, because google crawler dose not read your images, if you don't use ALT tags. So please use ALT tags and i am sure your your page is indexed.
