Backlink from the same website

I am noob to seo

I am trying to get my blog rank on page 1 for a keyword..
Can I make backlink from the same website daily for that same keyword or do I have to find different websites to get dofollow links from ? Or social bookmarking any good even being nofollow ?

    There's some discussion that new links from the same site count a bit less with each increasing link.

    Personally, I haven't been able to prove that common wisdom.

    That being said, I wouldn't want to go back to doing SEO as you're describing, increasing I don't think sitting a single foot outside of the guidelines is a good long term approach-

    Popular belief is that you need to get multiple links from different websites in your niche, preferably from popular ones. If you get all links from the same site, it may not help the purpose.

      What do you mean? You don't know what's a backlink (check in Google)! You want an example of how to build a backlink (check the Search function of the forum)! Why do you people post such general questions.......

      Backlinks are considered as "Votes" to be counted in order to help a certain keyword to rank. the more "Votes" you have from different websites, the higher chances of ranking high on a certain keyword. Having said that, Backlinks should come from different websites and not just one..

    Back links come from various visitors to your site. The higher ranked visitors the better. There is no way you are going to trick Google. It is a natural process and will take time. The more you give, the more you get. It is all about reciprocity. Just my two cents!

    For the keyword you are targeting you need to know the competition and traffic for that keyword, google keyword tool is the best for keyword research. For getting blog post on first page, the keyword you are targeting plays an important role. Try to choose a keyword that have massive traffic and less competition. Backlink from same website does not help that much.
