There is an anticipated date when we are supposed to have our sites efficiently load for mobile devices. Is it April 21? How long does it take Google to crawl the web, days, weeks or months?

    Don't panic, there's no deadline.

I guarantee Google was already running the mobile algo. update long before they made it public.

Also keep in mind that mobile search has already been unique for years compared to desktop search. It's like two totally different search engines.

If you care about mobile traffic, obviously make the site responsive but take your time & do it right. Consider existing site structure is what helped rank existing pages.

Yes it's April 21st 2015. No one knows exactly how fast Google can crawl. But if you can test the system by being funny and not making your site mobile-optimized and see how long it takes to get penalized (sarcasm)

Haha. alright, just change to mobile-optimized website design and not test Google. It has billions of USD to crush nonsensical sites it doesn't like.

It does not cost google one dime to crush a site it doesn't like.

If that actually mattered, as google does not work like that.

      Google loves nonsensical sites anyway.

Complete nonsense reply from a wannabe SEO.

Because your site is not mobile optimized in no way, shape, or form, means
it will penalized. Complete BS paranoia from people who have no idea how
      google and the internet work.

And of course the opposite is also in need of a mention, as we will get SEO
wannabe fools returning here: If you mobile optimize your site, that in no way,
shape, or form means google will like it better.

      Get a friggin grip people.

If you were disappointed in your results today, lower your standards tomorrow.

It's not going to take them recrawling the internet to implement this change. They'll use data they already have.

You cannot predict the exact date for Google to crawl the whole web. Day after day the number of websites are growing up at a rigorous speed. And hence in that context the time frame should also increase. But that is not the exact case, even google doesn't know what could be the exact time to crawl the whole web. It depends on the situation and scenarios.
