SEO strategy for celebrity gossip/photo sites?

Been struggling with this problem for a long time now. How does one plan a SEO strategy for celebrity photo/gossip sites? Trying to target impossibly difficult keywords like 'celebrity gossip' is unrealistic. And any long tail keywords seem to have really little traffic to make it worth targeting. And at the same time, trying to go for individual celebrity name keywords like 'Lindsay Lohan gossips' pretty much gives you nothing out of the thousand of celebrities out there and on the site. Do you guys have any suggestions or advice? Tks!

    I would not waste time on SEO for a site like that. You could generate far more traffic through Facebook and other social media sites than you will with SEO.

      are you suggesting paid ads on FB? that is quite unsustainable. we have been sharing our posts on our FB page, but it has remained pretty stagnant over past 2yrs at 8k+ followers....

        A solid Facebook strategy would include Facebook ads, yes.

        It is not unsustainable, and it is far cheaper than what it would cost you to do good SEO on a site like this.

          My definition of unsustainable is when the costs of acquisition outweighs the profits of each visitor. Unlike SEO, which is supposed to bring a longer-term stream of traffic, PPC ads are only one-time and even if it does bring additional social media followers, it is still far from the stream of traffic that comes from SERPs.

            How much do you think it is going to cost to rank a site in that niche and keep it there? There are ongoing costs with SEO too.

            It is not just about paying for every visitor with Facebook ads. If you are doing it well, many of those visitors are going to share pages from your site bringing in more visitors that you are not paying for.

            SEO will be far more expensive than Facebook ads on a site like this to drive the same amount of traffic.

    Ok, since your question is only about SEO, I'll only address that.

    1. People also search a lot about celebrities on YouTube (other than Google). You could rank videos on YouTube for these key phrases and get traffic to them. Have a (nofollow) backlink from Youtube description to your website. This will get traffic and brand awareness to your website. This means that people will start searching directly for your site on Google as well as share it on social media. This creates a ton of social media signals as well as improves your SEO (by people constantly searching for your site and clicking on it). {Tip: your video should be controversial to cause people to share and comment on your video}

    2. Read the 3 creatives ways to get SEO done I have written on LinkedIn (featured article): https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/3-cra...ore-alvin-chua

    3. Okay, the above 2 alone are good enough tips, for more you will need to engage my company's services I don't work for free and neither can I let my consultants work for free.

      tks for the tips. However, it just doesn't seem feasible. There are thousands of celebrities. There is no way we can individually create links for even 100 of them much less a majority of them on youtube. Usually, SEO focuses on 1-2 main keyword phrases and a few more long-tailed. There is just no way this seem to apply for celeb sites, or at least I've no idea how it applies.

    Why don't you try low cost display advertising? This site charge a flat rate of $0.05/click or CPM and have very good bonuses on deposits.

    http://ads4bux.com

    They say its a niche specific network but they will accept you if you mention BoSEO
