Mu main keyword has dropped out of Googles results all together. It used to be found on page 6, not that great but now its completely disappeared. Its been gone now for about 4 days straight...

I cant think of anything I have done to cause this drop... honestly I have not done a thing...

the only thing i can think of that.. I dont like and never have is this.. what do you guys think about the following...

For the last few years I have been getting Google alerts sent to my inbox everyday which I have set up using my primary keywords, and also my actual website name (which has keywords in it) .. this is so I can see whats happening in my niche around the web.. now one disturbing thing which has been happening at least once or twice a week since i started this.. is really, really bad spammy pages set up of people using my website name and stealing my content, like actual complete pages straight copy and paste onto their really bad spammy junked up peices of crap webpage with all sorts of bad shite on it porn etc... its really bad, i am shocked.. and i don't even get it.. why the hell would they want to combine the content of my pages with their porn and other crap, I mean it just doesnt even make sense... its totally unlrelated.. my site is a completely innocent child friendly natural health site for a family audience...

Do you think this plagerisim could be responsible for the drop in serps i just experienced?

    • Look at Supplemental SERPs, is your page there?
    • Switch the Google search settings to show 100 results, is your page there?
    • Is your page indexed (site:domain.com/exact-url-here)?

There is no supplemental SERPs with my keywords in Google. I just checked, it seems my site has come back again.. thats good. (so it must've been a dance for some reason as it disappeared for about 4 days).. still, this plagerism thing is a bit disturbing still...

Don't panic too much. I've had my website go from #6 down to #23 and was there for almost a month. It came back up over the course of 16 days and ended two days ago at the final position of #3!
It's just the fun google dance.

The next time your page disappears from Google SERPs for your keyword, do a regular search (Incognito) & add &filter=0 to the end of the Google search URL & do the search again with the new Google search URL.

Do that & see If your page returns to the search results.

I would have invented Google and Microsoft if I was born earlier.

.. I think Yukon is referring to the "omitted results" and adding that &filter=0 will show those omitted results.

Yep, it's most likely Google is filtering out duplicate pages across multiple domains (scraper sites vs your site).

Supplemental SERPs isn't a penalty, it's just an overflow so the SERPs aren't showing 500 of the same webpages.

In the end, the stronger duplicate page wins in the SERPs. Build strong backlinks.

Doesn't that kind of suck? So someone can technically steal all of your content, put it on multiple pages to look like they're not the only one doing it, build beautiful links to it and work to outrank and de-index all of your work.

Can someone viably get away with something like this?

              Happens all the time...

The thing about scraper sites is, most never aim to rank scraped pages other than a few main keywords. I mean some lazy ass scraper running a bot isn't going to build links for 100s/1,000s of internal pages. They'll scrape the site & wish for the best. They can still outrank original webpages, it's still possible If the original webpage/webmaster sucks at SEO.

Example, a scraper site might have bought a domain with a good backlink profile, while the original content site has a fresh domain with no backlinks.

Yeah, I agree. You need to build quality backlinks. And also check that your link profile is clean, check it through webmasters tool.

You could have been penalized for either duplicate content or if any of those porn sites and spam sites are linking to you too. Do you have webmaster tools installed? If you got a manual action Google would have sent you a message there. However, sometimes sites drop for no reason at all in the SERPs but eventually come back with no extra work on your part. Maybe run a scan on your site to using Sucuri just to make sure your site wasn't hacked and spam installed on it too.

        • Is the page indexed (site:domain.com/exact-internal-page-here)?
        • What's the Google cache date? Just curious when was the last time you can confirm Google crawled the page.
