How Many Backlinks Should Your Article Have?

Hey Warriors,

So I am thinking of putting some articles on ezines. I have read a few things about backlinks and how backlinks can help you rank your article higher on search engines. But my question is: how many backlinks do I need to rank high on search engines?

I know it all depends on the term I am looking for, but let's assume that I am targeting a keyword with 30 000 monthly searches, less than 600 000 indexed websites on google and the higher website has a PR3 rank, not being targeting the keyword in its domain. That should give you an idea.

So in general how much backlinks does my articles need? 10? 50? 100? 200?

I am clueless here, really. :p

Anyway thank you all for your help

Best
James

My understanding is that Ezines doesn't allow backlinks in the body, you're only allowed two in the resources box of the article and they must not go to an affiliate landing page.

I could be wrong and I'm sure someone will correct me if I am but that is my interpretation

You need to study the page 1 compeititon and find out how many backlinks each competing website has.

You can use a tool called backlink watch Backlinks Checker Tool - Backlink Watch

Look up sites 1-10 on page 1 of google and see how many backlink each one has.

Once have that you will have an idea of how many backlinks are needed to get top spot on page 1 in google.

The answer is really as many as it takes to get on the first page. Do 10-15, check your rankings.

If your still not on the front page do 10-15 more, ect. until you are on the first page.

There is no magic number, keep chopping away until your getting good rankings.

    Hi guys

i usually tend to do 50 backlinks to all of my articles with ezinearticles.com however if i submit it elsewhere just by people re-using the articles on their blog with the links coming back to me i can get the same results without needing to put in the hard work.

    kind regards

Just like anything else that you might do backlinks for the answer to "how many" you need depends on the strength and number of the competition. With an article, you are "borrowing" the strength of the article directory's Page Rank and thousands of backlinks, so you won't have to have as many as you might need with a website. But there's no pat answer to "how many" backlinks you need for an article.

For example: Let's say you wanted to target the keywords Weight Loss. For that keyword, not only would you have to compete with 105 MILLION other sites ("broad search"), but you are also up against sites like Webmd, About.com, Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Mayo Clinic, and other "Big Names".

However, if you decided to target Weight Loss Tips and Tricks, not only do you only have 544,000 competing sites (broad search), but there is an article in position 1 as well as position 5. Although there still are a couple of strong sites on Page One, they are not at the top and the articles that were actually targeted for those keywords are taking top billing. So for this keyword, you'd have to have a LOT fewer backlinks than you'd have to have for the keyword Weight Loss.

I think there is nothing that is common. You should consider getting atleast 20 to 30 backlinks for that article page. This will increase your PR for that webpage.

Based on my experience, it depends on how much or how many you are competing with certain keywords.

Well James, My advice is try to get about 20-25 PR5+ backlinks from your niche related(Article niche) sites. Wait for 4-5 days. Check the results. I am sure those will help you a lot to increase your SERP. However, I know it is not easy to get PR5+ niceh related links. but, If you can get it, you are lucky.

However, there is another ways too, As you are having abt 600,000 competitors sites + You are going to promote your EZA article... then If you can get about 75-100 links from other sites which domain PR is PR4 or more, that too will help you a lot. Make sure you are NOT getting all these links within 1-2 days. Spread them for 4-5 days.....

    Best of luck James.

600000 is just a number, what matters much is the authority sites which compete for your keyword. If the first 50 results for your keyword are highly authorized, you don't have chance to get any se visit, but its wise you check all competitors in first two pages.
