Hello,
I built a web design blog one year ago. It has decent number of posts and I have commented on many blogs for backlinks. I believe the contents on the blog are good enough yet it's failing to get any visitors or ranking. The blog has not been indexed even by alexa! at this point I'm extremely disappointed. Can somebody tell me what should I do please? or is there anything wrong with the site?
this is the link to the web design blog
Any suggestion is highly appreciated.
Thanks

It would help if you told us which keywords you are aiming to rank for. I had a quick look with SEOQuake and there's nothing too obvious that should affect your ability to rank.

Ranking your blog is more than just targeting specific "keywords." Now, I'm far from an SEO expert, but here are some things that were suggested to me in redesigning and improving my own blog:

      1. Use more Imagery.

      2. Be sure to optimize your photos.

      3. Add a nice image to your header, along with a photograph of yourself. It helps with branding and for helping your visitors get to know, like and trust you.

      4. If you're not already doing so, share each and every blog post across these top social media sites:
      • Facebook
      • StumbleUpon
      • Tumblr
      • Google+
      • LinkedIn

      5. Doublecheck your keywords. Are you using keywords that people are actually searching for?

      6. Instead of simply writing in an "instructional" way (how to do this, how to do that), write in a more engaging way to draw your visitors into the article. I'm not "the best" at this, but I'm working on it.

      7. ADD VIDEO to as many blog posts as you can. This seriously helps with backlinks and distribution. You can do screenshot videos for almost every blog post you have so you can SHOW people how to do something instead of simply giving them written instructions.

Or you can talk about the subject and how it's helped you or what you've learned and embed that video into your blog.

Those are just some of the things I can suggest. Hope it helps a little!
Oh...now we know. You like spamming forums with useless info for a link.
Pity the fools who will actually read it.

Thanks for your reply Steven. The targeted keyword for homepage is "Learn Web development". But I'm not trying to rank the homepage. I'm trying to rank my posts.

He meant the keywords you are trying to rank for. Not the ones you are not trying to rank for.

Without knowing your keywords and SEO strategy there is not much we can do to help you.

From what you have posted, my guess is your problems are:

Poor keyword research. Poorly targeted keywords and poor use of LSI keywords. Each article should target one keyword and have related LSI keywords supporting that one keyword.

Poor competition research. For each keyword you are trying to rank for, What are the weak sites in the top 10 SERPs that you are targeting to replace? How do you plan on doing that?

Weak content. If others are not sharing your content (and building backlinks and social interaction) then your content is probably poor quality and poorly promoted.

      What is your SEO strategy?
      How are you building backlinks?
Do you have control so you aren't getting some bad SEO company building poor backlinks?

What tools are you using for Keyword research, competition research, and monitoring your backlink profile?

Had a look at the site, i noticed that you have no mentioned the keyword "Learn Web development".anywhere on the homepage, which makes me wonder how Google would know that you are targeting this keyword.

The other problem is the <h1> or rather lack of it, from what i looked at you have several ,<h3> with no real distinction, or clarity, these below ideally should be structured focusing on primary and secondary keywords.

I would also include the keyword you are targeting on the homepage, as the header, follow up secondary articles on homepage with secondary keywords, long-tail or otherwise.

Would structure this below much better, would also include meta descriptions on other pages which you have left blank, the jQuery url for example, again using <h3's> with no clear keyword optimisation.

Also, avoid hiding text on the page, Google really dislikes this, it is also getting wise to people using this tactic, often people put click here for more info and nothing appears, or very little is added, would avoid hiding any form of text.

Overall though, would sort out the <h3> have one <h1> and follow it up with <h2's>. secondary primary keywords of importance, not like you have it here.

You also have not mentioned your primary keyword in the title or meta tag on the homepage or any pages for that matter, very little content as well, would increase text and images, keyword them as well, images, possible videos where possible, keep them on the page longer.

I see that "Learn web development" has a search volume of 880 global per month which is not very high. There is some pretty good competition to get on on page 1 of google but not impossible. Are you backlinking in areas other than forum comments?

First, "learn web development" is a lofty goal; you're competing against colleges, major development firms with 6 figure budgets and all the help sites like Udemy, Lifehacker and all the other authority blogs. So even if you were in the top one hundred off of blogging alone, that's a serious accomplishment....but it won't get you a drop of traffic.

So my advice would be to hit every web development and marketing directory you can find, syndicate your content to the authority sites, and approach local colleges about taking on interns (basically to get the backlinks). Then get your site formatted correctly to be accepted into Google News, write a few press releases and offer a free course on one of the eLearning sites (post teasers to YouTube as well). There are also a hundred other things you can do and honestly, you'll likely have to complete most of them to outrank edu and authority sites.

I would personally find smaller niches to focus on as well within web development and try to rank for them....write very specific tutorials for very specific problems and start capturing those keyword strings. Doing this will help for "learn web development" too, but it will also open you up to natural traffic immediately. Before you post a blog, just hit Google Search to see the competition for each longtail phrase to find the right wording....and then run with it. Unlike what others say, even if that term takes 10 hits per month total, then that's ten visitors you're guaranteed and you do better in related searches too.

Just remember- every visitor counts. So stop looking at the big picture for now and think very small. Find one thing you can rank for off one blog and then find another tomorrow. The traffic alone will provide an overall boost for all keywords so just stay humble and keep pecking away.

    I hope that helps.

AUTHORS in the top nav bar is empty so get rid of it and replace is with a new service. For example, you can add PHP programming. Yeah, that is max pop. Maybe you can add your own photograph to the contact page. That way, your customers can feel more secure. It might help you generate more income.

you must do depth research on your competitors and then do better than them. get their backlink sources and try to get similar links for your site.

if things are getting you may want to target low competitive keywords.

and if you can't do the SEO stuff then hire SEO professionals to handle your website promotions and pay them based on results you get.

According to Majestic you don't have too many backlinks. They're reporting handful from only three sites. That's likely not the whole picture, but it seems pretty bleak. In addition both of the "Flow Metric" scores are zero. Majestic could not find any backlinks that matter which fits your description of blog commenting.

I really don't like the scrolling effect on your site, but that's a personal preference.

The content is pretty poor. Checked a few articles and none of them got to any juicy details. The article that promised a "step-by-step jQuery tutorial from beginner to pro" didn't deliver anything at all. It's pretty hard to compete if the content is something that, say, WordPress.org covers much better. The authoritative dev blogs have probably covered all of these easy targets at some point, too.

It's not particularly easy "niche". You're going against nerds who obsess over their hobby, semi-professional multi-author blogs, and companies with solid budgets to put behind their publishing efforts.

And so on, all hyperlinked to relevant pages, so however many hyperlinks needed to cover the course, each section having its own hyperlink, good internal link structure and more content, much more with more photos, perhaps even a video course to boot.
