Ran across an interesting article this morning, many of the tips are not entirely new, but a few are new to me (technique-wise) and perhaps many newbies (and oldies). I plan to test a few myself, especially #3 and #4.

Hope it helps (or at least gets more people to think outside the box).

Those are good tips but they're nothing new. Spying on competition has been part of SEO for years.

The author brought up a good point, just because another webmaster is competition doesn't mean they won't give you a backlink, everyone that owns a website doesn't have the all competition are enemies attitude.

Competition are just regular people, contact them & talk about the niche, eventually ask for a link, the worse that can happen is they tell you to get lost.

Good point, I've had both happen to me, but the few that said yes was worth all the ones that said no combined.

Excellent article! Very relevant and informative. Just like you, already did some on the lists, but I think it needs a little more effort though. Been trying to work with the list #3, which I heard is very relevant today.
