Dofollow links from forums

Hi,

I have been actively participating in forums recently, and the forum I am using allows 'dofollow' signature links along with optimised anchor text. Which is very good.

However, I have taken a look at he backlink profile of a few members on that forum which are using signature links - and they have thousands of links coming from that forum, all of which are dofollow. Is this bad, or does it genuinely help ranking?

Thanks.

  • No matter how much do follow links you get.. But if you profile doesnt look natural than you will be not be benefited from it
  • Just think, If the Forums offer Do-follow then it will help to get some rank benefit for your website as well. Otherwise, A No-follow forum generally takes high traffic.
  • It is good for you and helps to get ranked on search engines. If your link really dofollow and natural, then there is less possibility to get penalized.
  • One thing forum links help with, is that crawlers will pass by at you linked site frequently.
  • Forum and blog links have very low value for google today. You can only consider them as some sort of traffic generating sources but not as the main place to get link juice from.
  • It's not bad per se, unless the domain the forum is on has a lot of backlinks the SEO value passed by the links are practically insignificant.

Warrior Forum is a nofollow forum, if it were a dofollow forum it would be one of the better forum sources for links, but even them one link from a webpage like this one will pass so little SEO value it's practically insignificant.

Consider you are trying to fill a bath tub with water and each link from a forum page like this one would be equivalent to a single drop of water. It has value, but even with 1,000 posts you've added a cup of water to bath tub. One half decent link will beat 1,000 dofollow forum links, so are you going to spend your time creating1,000s of forum posts for low quality links (which could go nofollow in the future) or spend your time building quality links?

You also have to assume Google isn't discounting the dofollow links from some forums, if Google sees a domain manipulating results they can remove the links from the calculation. So you might be building thousands of links which Google ignores.

  • Make sure the forum is relevant and provides natural links. Moreover, it doesn't matter if your are getting no-follow or do-follow link but the traffic should be genuine and also it should help you get ranking in SERP's

    • Relevancy is key here. Don't just post on forums for just posting, you want to keep it as most relevant as possible.

  • There is no harm in having those many links from one website if the discussion is genuine and up to the mark. Your true and valuable participation does matter a lot.
