I'm Terrible at Linkbuilding! Please Help!

Hi guys,
So I have set up an Amazon Affiliate niche site. It's my first site. I did extensive keyword research and chose my niche accordingly. I believe that if I can build links, it should not be difficult to rank for my target keyword.

The website is responsive, bug free and attractive. All of my affiliate links work. I have quite a large twitter attached to the brand website (1,500 followers) but the traffic isn't very targeted and I have only made $5 so far.

The conversion rate once the user gets to Amazon is 2.55%.

I am terrible at building links. I literally have no idea how to build links, as there are no real blogs in the niche, and nothing that could really 'go viral' so to speak.

I need help. Any help at all on how you go about link building would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

    Hello Zenith,

There are lost of sites that you can submit your URL to that will help with your link building. This is what I would do:

    1. create a video and embed onto your site
    2. Submit your url and video to im.org
    3. Submit your url and video all of your Social Media channels
    4. Submit your video to metacafe.com, dailymotion.com, viddler.com, vimeo.com, blip.tv, veoh.com

Put your URL in your WF signutre and any other forums your a member of.

You then want to bookmark your video and site url

Another option is to use fiverr.com and pay $5 to get the links built for you.

    Hope this helps

Would you recommend fiver for links? I have heard that this is not a safe strategy to go down when trying to build links to a site you wish to have sustainable rankings.

If you do use Fiverr for link building, make sure the links are drip fed over a few months.

I think I would like to avoid fiver for links - would people here agree on that?

If buying links for $5 was the key to success with SEO, this sub-forum would not need to exist.

    Look at your competition's infographics.

Come up with a better version.

Use this tool to load your comeptiton's infographic and find where they got posted https://www.tineye.com/

Find the sites that posted your competiton's infographic and ask that they post your stuff too along with the custom description/intro you wrote (with your backlink in it)

If you can't build external links-focus on internal. They don't work quite as well, but over time they add up as well-

  • If you have enough budget, build/buy a PBN. Links from Fiverr are good only for tier-2 and you need to be very careful.

    Please don't buy Fiverr links.

I don't believe that there is any industry or website in the world that doesn't have something interesting you can create that people will link to.

Even if you have the most boring and dull product in the world, you can bridge it over to another topic that has a target audience and therefore will attract links.

For example... I was working with a client who build a particular part for couches, that's it, one part, made out of wood that goes into couches.

    Couches aren't interesting.

    Wood isn't interesting.

But if you get creative you can access other areas, in this example, I had them make a version of the part that could be used externally, thereby fixing broken couches.

We them approached local authorities and offered them some of these products to give to old peoples homes, homeless shelters, local youth groups, generally places that had couches but probably couldn't afford to buy new ones if they were broken.

Guess what? They all had websites and were happy to write a little something about them with a link. You know who else was interested in this, journalists, local charity blogs, blogs about the elderly, local newspapers etc etc, all happy to link to the client.

I know that you can't do this exact thing, but it is just an example of a creative way to come up with a link strategy.

I go through a creative stage with every consultation that I do, I look at the product and think is there a specific group of people who will buy it that has a community based around it, most of the time the answer is yes.

Another (hypothetical) example, you sell ski clothing, consider adding a section to your website in one of the big 5 communities (these have large communities and plenty of self made blogs, fully opinion based and mainly run for free or by charities)
    1) elderly people - do you have clothing specifically for an elderly audience?
    2) over weight people - can you appeal to these people?
    3) physically disabled - do you have anything that is particularly helpful/of interest to this type of people
    4) learning disabled - same as above, can you appeal to this specific market with a selection of your products
    5) children - you make their sizes? Do they look cute in your stuff? Etc etc

These communities differ depending on your industry, but you need to see if there are any of these pockets of micro communities that focus on a particular type of person that you can appeal to.

Create something for them and then start approaching some of the bazillions of blogs and sites that are aimed towards and focus on these people.

An added bonus is that these links are often very very targeted to your new target market and generate referral traffic and sales.

You have to be creative with linking strategies, it's not just a copy this guide and you'll rank number 1, you need links and traffic that other people aren't getting, get your brain working and come up with an angle to use.

An incredibly detailed response. Thank you very much for taking the time to help me out. I guess I just need to be more creative in how I find links. I just feel a bit overwhelmed about it, and how time-consuming it may be.

I want to thank you for recommending I don't buy fiver links. I knew it wasn't the right strategy to go down.

      Thanks,
      Jon

I recommend you stay away from buying such services from fiverr, the chances that you'll find someone who is genuinely interested in working hard to do some serious linkbuilding for you, for $5 are way to slim! You're better off learning how to do this yourself.

I would build quality web 2.0 sites/blogs. Make sure they have multiple pages of good and relevant content, with the odd quality link out. Have a contact page and and about page and drip feed content over a few weeks, with your money site link in one of the dripfed pages a few weeks in.

    I mainly use:

    wordpress.com
    bloglines.com
    weebly.com
    typepad.com
    blogger.com
    livejournal.com
    tumblr.com
    squidoo.com
    boosites.com
    blogspot.com
    jimdo.com
    webs.com
    ning.com
    zoho.com
    webnode.com
    storify.com
    blogspirit.com
    blog.co.uk
    hubpages.com
    diaryland.com
    sosblog.com

You're leaving the hard part out. This is just a generic description of CMS usage, and that's not issue for OP. How do you build links to these sites? Do you interlink them, buy cheap crap link packages, try to link bait...

"Web 2.0" site with an empty backlink profile does not boost your money site. There are blog services that interlink their sites and posts, but most of those on your list do not. For example, blog.co.uk lists individual blog posts on their front page and has some sort of central archive.

I have no idea, and I'm not terribly keen to spend my time to dig into it. It seems to me that the service is already used for link spam to some extend. However, in this case there's at least a working mechanism even if that link is instantly buried in the archive.

However, some interlinked blog services do exist. Those I've seen tend to have stricter rules, and admins to delete bad articles.
