There's quite a disconnect between the way you're writing here, and what the site offers. Is that your site at all?

So it's a sort of generic business site with some backlinks and some content that's unique at least technically speaking. Backlink profile feels artificial, but Majestic at least gives you fairly good scores.

I'm not going to research this much further, but all the blog posts I checked looked like sort of half-hearted attempts at quick content production. It's feels as if this was just an example site. It's pretty hard to rank with mediocre content on generic topics.

Front page text is dull but that's sort of expected. However, if I was trying to communicate an idea efficiently I'd drop the faux enterprise style and fancy words, and wrote much more directly.

Do you have some reason to have the blog on a different address? Site has www, blog does not. Blog doesn't really use titles and h1s properly on every page. Check blog front for wrong h1, and any article for wrong title tag.

One basic thing you screwed up is that the WWW and non-WWW versions of your site are both accessible. That is a huge canonical problem.

Along with what Mike was saying:

OP is running two live versions of the same Home page (non-www + www).

Good catch. I only noticed that the blog was not under the www "subdomain". Now that I look at the site it seems that there's two CMSes.

Indeed, if this seeps into SERPs you should do something.

You need to select which version you prefer, and setup a 301 redirect in the htaccess file to redirect the other version to that one. You need all your pages redirecting to their corresponding page.

So all WWW pages should redirect to the non-WWW versions or vice versa.

SEO has gone a step ahead. Whatever you have done for your website would not have been sufficient. An overall diversity of all the possible tactics is required in order to get a genuine set of ranking. Starting from link building to social media with advertisements would make a difference.

Social media doesn't have anything to do with ranking pages on Google SERPs.

I doubt that. If the folks at searchmetrics.com know their stuff, which I believe, social signals are indeed a ranking factor.

Did you not see the word "correlation" that's slapped to the top of that graph? It simply doesn't say what you claim it says.

Matt Cutts' explanation on this topic makes perfect sense. I find no reason to believe that "social signals" are a signal.

Yeah, "correlation is not causation". This is indeed an important hint. I don't think we have to agree in everything, because SEO involves a lot of guess work after all. The better educated the guesses are, the better of course.

Regarding Matt Cutts, I think everybody should listen to what he is saying. But in my opinion he won't tell you anything about Google's ranking factors. This opinion is based on his job title and may well be completely wrong.

So without having anything better, I take correlation as a proxy for causation. And I would never advise anybody to think too much about ranking factors. To me they are just a way to prioritize my efforts. After all, SEO is (to me personally): 1. Give valuable content, 2.) Have a good user experience and 3.) Spread the word without annoying too many folks. To anybody who wants to game the guys at Google, good luck! I'm not that smart.

And, even if we're maybe not exactly on the same line, I'd like to thank you for giving this thread some real insight, not just platitudes...

Of course you should treat him as an insider with vested interests, but it's the description that makes sense in this case. If you've been watching Facebook for more than a year you know that they like changing things. Twitter blocked Google from having a straight access to tweets. This sort of stuff would make "social signals" very unreliable, which is what Cutts said. They'd be relying too much on services that have their own development paths and internal politics.

              Thanks.

I've been saying that there's often a connection between getting your link out there, and ranking in SERPs. It doesn't have to be a direct causal relationship like the proponents of "social signals hypothesis" claim. To me this sounds pretty much the same as what you said above.

They're idiots If they think Tweets, Likes & +1's will rank a page in Google SERPs.

When you get done playing games & ready to rank pages do some real SEO (onpage + strong followed links).

First do the obvious fixes like this, and the h1/title one I posted above.

Apart from that, try to search with a keywords you'd like to rank with and see what your competitors are doing better. As I said I find your content a bit weak. Compare that to something that really ranks on similar keywords.

Negative SEO means an attempt to spam site's link profile with a ton of low quality links. It implies that someone is attacking you, and I saw no evidence of that.

Use Google to find more information. This Moz article seems to be fairly thorough.

You can't predict the algorithms of Google. It updates constantly and can't be overlooked it. So, if your ranking is down and you need to boost it up again then you should make good quality backlinks for it in order to increase the awareness of your business. Don't worry if the keywords are not showing in Google, it will get back to top by doing better SEO for it.
