  • Yes. Optimizing your site and content for search will always be relevant. However, SEO as a tactic for outranking other quality content, based upon 'tricks/hacks/methods/etc.' is Dodo Bird stuff. Or at least will eventually be, soon.

Google has billions of dollars and a butt-load of IQ points amongst their staff. They don't want SEO people to be able to decide the SERPS. They (Google) want to decide the SERPS. SEO as a tactic and main gameplan going forward is an effort in futility.

There is TRUE SEO - optimizing your stuff so that Google 'likes' it as much as possible. And then there is SEG. SEG is what the majority of SEO people have been doing the last decade plus, with less G'ing possible every Algo update. They just haven't called themselves the right name this whole time.

    Search Engine Gamers ...
  • Is there an internet with no search engine?
  • For some niches SEO is great!

Just like on EZA most niches took a nose-dive after Panda update... some obscure niches actually got better! Depending on your niche it can be really easy - even by using the most basic SEO principles.
  • Of course it is. It's just that as the internet has progressed and this whole making money online has become more mainstream, more people are paying attention. It should also be noted that Google and the other search engines has always made changes to their algorithms in an attempt to provide a better user experience, and they will continue to do so. Just focus on providing quality, relevant content to the end user and you'll be fine.

  • In some ways, SEO is more important now than ever, just remember there's more to SEO than just Google.

Youtube is now the second largest search engine on the Net. If you are on sites like Amazon, LinkedIn, Fiverr, etc., understanding how each site's search engine works can be extremely beneficial. Use of #hashtags for sites like Twitter and Instagram is part of SEO, IMO.

Even the Warrior Forum has its own search engine. If you have a WSO knowing how to do basic optimization for the WF is an advantage. Hint: It isn't hard to beat the WSOs that use graphics for their "text".
  • SEO is important, but putting all your eggs in the SEO basket in a bad idea. Some companies who only focused on SEO saw they earnings vanish in one day because of a Google update.
  • SEO is important. Even though many people would say SEO is dead but actually it isn't. No matter what changes Google would make SEO would still be relevant in ranking websites. The difference would be having to find a different way to rank a website compared to before.
  • Take care of UEO and SEO will take care of itself.
  • Whoever told you SEO is dead or dying, lied to your face!
Of course it's important. It's not as easy to get traffic and high rankings as it used to be 15 years ago, but you simply cannot ignore certain SEO aspects if you want your website to succeed.
  • SEO is still relevant and it will continue for long time, I think because with out relevancy Goggle will mark as Spam. And if you want to ensure better user experience then you have to do relevant SEO.
  • SEO will always be relevant, but it WILL change. With all the upcoming algorithm updates, it's form will shift and change, but SEO in it's general meaning will still be the same.
  • As long as there are search engines there will always be ways of optimizing.

    Is targeted traffic still relevant?
  • Well, I look at it this way, SEO is just another way to get traffic, and this type of traffic is not under your control where as other types of traffic such as media buys, solo ads, agency traffic you know you're guaranteed traffic. Depends on how youre business is structured, if its an online store, blog etc, then yes SEO is good to focus on in addition to other methods of traffic generation. However if you're doing marketing through list building and you want results fast, then no point depending on SEO too much, you need to be looking at other types of traffic sources that getting instant results. Of course SEO should also be in your activities. Another downside to SEO is that you cant scale it up, for example if you had a great offer that you launching and you need to be first on the market, SEO won't do it for you, where as paid traffic such as SOLOs, media buys, traffic agencies, you can literally command as much traffic as you want at will!.
  • OP that depend. If you have other soure of traffic go for it. Maybe in the long run it will be wielding better ROI but thats in the minority of the cases. In truth Google hasn't changed the things that much. Almost everything still works - the other question how diverse your link profile is and whats the quality of your links.
  • Yes, SEO is always necessary to get higher ranking. It'll help you to appear on the top of search result and get much traffic.
  • Ofcourse , it is always business relevant to promote our keywords .
  • God what a stupid thread.

    Stop feeding the trolls people.
  • Yes organic results matter a lot even if you are doing paid marketing, organic matters a lot.
