Hi there my site is Bass Rock Framing & Gallery

I am doing ok on google searches for my site because I have a good facebook page but if you go to google and search for a picture framer in Dunbar or East Lothian my site is not showing in the results.

Is this because its a wix site. Is there any advice you can give me. I have got a sitemap with google.

  • Wix is just another CMS. I'm sure it can handle the few elements that are required. Even though the theme uses weird Ajax tricks it seems to be indexed.

However, the HTML is certainly not very good. It's very heavy for what it is.

On the front page you've got three h1 elements, and one contains this: "Title. BDouble click me." On the blog posts there's no actual post title, but only the same three h1 elements.

Visually the site is all over the place which may drive visitors away. It's hard to say if this really affects your search engine results.

Your backlinks seem to be good, but there's not that many of them.

    • Could you recommend how I go about fixing these issues. My budget is low and it would be great if I could someone in this forum that could fix it. Would you take it to fiverr?

  • I am sorry but, the site is not optimized well. The design is ok but the fonts are align properly. You have not any tags in "search by tags". The URLs of the site is also not SEO friendly.

First of all, how much money are you spending on the Wix site?

Regular web hosting cost about $10 (USD) per month.

Second, those URLs aren't optimized. I've never seen anyone use hashtags like that & index multiple pages. Kind of funky looking for a URL.

    Example:
    • hxxp://www.bassrockgallery.com/!Tips-Advice-Dunbar-East-Lothian-Picture-Framing/cn16/554755ed0cf273133512885e

    You have 7 pages indexed:

    • yukon, obviously you like most of the members in here have not used Wix.
There is no other way around "/#" in Wix. I have a website on Wix as well, and struggle to understand why my site does not rank very well either. Here is how google sees the actual URL - "http://www.bassrockgallery.com/?_escaped_fragment_=" it is without hash tag. I am little bit surprised that so called experts on this site didn't even look at source code

  • Optimise for local search. Use local search terms, get your business linked to from local sites, get business citations online relevant to your location, get into google maps, get a google local page, get blogging and mention your location.
