Why are Porn Sites Scrapping Our GA/UA #?

Hey Warriors,

Does anyone have thoughts on what the benefit would be for a porn site to be scraping/stealing our GA/UA (Google Analytics) number aside from some very small additional web traffic as we check out the site? Also, any way to get them to stop using it?

Any thoughts are helpful.

Thanks!

I was noticing this too. Couldn't figure out why I had all of this stuff from youporn in my analytics. Wonder why they are doing this?

It's just referral spam. You can add a filter in analytics to exclude them from showing up in the future.

That's what I thought, but it is showing as Landing Pages (not Acquisition data)

I'm currently dealing with this, and I've just about given up. I've tried almost every method you can find on the first page of Google when searching the problem, and none of them seem to work, or they only work partially. Some of my sites are hit harder than others. As soon as I filter a few of the sites, many more pop up and spam my traffic logs. It's an ongoing problem that is obviously getting worse.

The spammers doing this are even spoofing the 'Organic' section of my traffic logs, whereas before, it was only the 'referral' section. Still trying to figure out how to get rid of all of the spam visits.

Oh, I wanted to add that it's called 'Ghost referrals' because the spam doesn't actually involve people visiting your site.

As long as your host doesn't shut your site down for bandwidth I wouldn't even worry about it.

Odds are it wouldn't even get to the point of shutting down a site, If it did it would be a DoS which would be bigger problems than some guy sending a few fake referrers.

Just to be clear this is NOT website TRAFFIC (we have that too but I'm not too concerned with that), this is appearing as LANDING PAGES, indicating that these companies have used our UA tracking ID number. So basically their URL appears as though it is pages on our website

mkgg, that's exactly what I'm saying (only not youporn, a different porn site) I can see the activity that is occurring on their landing pages.

For example, I can see number of Landing Page sessions to www. jezair.com/articfox..... (which most definitely is not our URL) again, this is activity on their landing pages. Wish I could attach a screenshot here.
