That's got to be the most unreliable SEO tool I know of. Reading tea leaves is better than Market Samurai.

View HTML Source is my all-time favourite. Very reliable, too.

Sometimes when the sites get more advanced and/or brain-dead you've got to resort to View Generated Source that's available in the Web Developer Toolbar for Firefox.

When it comes to backlinks, either Ahrefs or Majestic. Domain authority is Moz's metric so obviously go for Moz if that's your thing.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

      What's your excuse?

Webmaster tools is the best for knowing all of the backlinks pointing to your site. Other tools, like MOZ, Majestic, and AHREFs are best for checking links of competing sites or sites you don't own.

  • GSA is that a wrong answer? On a serious note I don't think that any other tool is better than the Google's webmaster or GA as they are one on which other tools are based up to some extent.
And you said you are asking for a new tool just because of confusion. Really? If this is the level of your learning you can't be a SEO consultant.

I am sorry but what the hell are you talking about ??!!? How the F are other tools and i assume you mean Majestic/ahrefs BASED on google webmaster tools ? They have THEIR OWN BOTS and crawlers and propriety engines and they charge handsomely for that, you don't think Google will mind being ripped off by Majestic/ahrefs ?.

OP: Google WMT is crap when it comes to backlinks, it doesn't even show half of the backlinks that point to your site and for a good reason, they don't want to help you rank sites but confuse you, you should stay away from anything Google except their search engine .

Majestic and ahrefs are the best backlink checkers available right now, ahrefs has more data but i like the interface of majestic better.

Here's what we use in our repertoire:
Hands down the best backlink checker on the market, I have active subscriptions with all of the others and ahrefs is the most up-to-date and underinflated on the market. Majestic inparticular is falling behind, and quickly. They also over inflate the true number of links as their crawler is buggy and will continue to recrawl folders deeper and deeper even though the real link was thirty folders back. Ahrefs doesn't have that problem.

Great for most people as it encompasses most of the major backlink checkers and can push you data rather than needing to pull the link data regularly. Which I like. If you know what you are doing with ahrefs/majestic you don't need it. But if you are just starting out I say skip ahrefs and majestic and go with that tool.

    - ScrapeBox – Harvest, Check, Ping, Post
When I hire SEO's for our company if they don't have an active Scrapebox subscription they aren't even considered. Most think the tools for spam, but we haven't used it for spam in YEARS. The toolset is hands down one of the most robust on the market and is a huge work horse. It's sad it gets a negative wrap for it's spam features because it's hands down the most powerful tool on the market.

    - Google Penalty Recovery & Backlink Removal Service - LinkDelete.com
Link cleanup is mandatory for any new client we take on. Most clients have had years of endless crap spam from previous SEO's that are still stuck in 2006. Working on a new campaign with toxic links is only a recipe for disaster and we don't want any clients blaming us for their previous SEO's crap work. They handle everything for us from analysis to removals.

    - Screaming Frog SEO Spider Tool & Crawler Software | Screaming Frog

Another robust tool that's on par with Scarpebox. We use this for onsite data and changes that we need to make to site structure and crawling issues. A dangerous tool because you can DDOS a site essentially if you don't set it up properly. I may make a post on this tool in the future.

    - URL Profiler - Powerful Content and Back Link Auditor Software

A new addition and one that we're loving. It's nearly a combo of some of the scrapebox/screaming frog features, light weight and more importantly relatively cheap.

    - Link Building and Digital PR Tools - BuzzStream

Finally for link outreach and misc. tasks we utilize buzzstream. I will likely make a post on this tool at some point in the future as well. This is more limited based on the type of SEO you are performing and expensive but can be worth it if managed properly.

SEO MOZ is the best tool to search for the website's page rank, domain authority and many more. By getting the extension of it people can trust on a particular website by knowing all these easily. But for checking the backlinks of any website you must use the ahref. Try to use them and see what benefits you are getting from it.
