Google De-indexing PBNs Again?

Hello!

I just noticed recently that many of the private blog networks that I have access to have been completely de-indexed. It's the same as what happened in September, 2014. Massive de-indexing all at once and thin content penalties.

What is even more interesting is that it seems Google is taking direct aim at money sites built on expired domains. Out of a collection of roughly 30 different money sites, all were de-indexed except for two of the sites that weren't built on expired domains. In this particular situation, I think that speaks volumes as to what Google is trying to say.

Even though they've been de-indexed, I really don't want to 'out' the group of money sites I'm talking about. However, this isn't the only batch. I've seen enough 'damage' just from what I have access to to believe Google is going through another wave of de-indexing. Look at the SEMrush shots below for just a few of the sites.

I'm not sure exactly when it happened -- I believe sometime during April? I wrote a post on my blog about it. What are your thoughts? Have you had any mass de-indexing recently? What about money sites built on expired domains de-indexed?

Most evidence points to it just happening. Lot of people were reporting over the weekend getting the thin content notice from Google.

It's exciting. I love when Google does these crackdowns. Makes it easier for those of us that know what we are doing.

Define PBN, public or private link networks?

If you don't own 100% of the domains it's public.

If it's a public link network that means other people buying links on that network are doing things that you don't know about, it only takes one guy to get a manual review & Google digging into link profiles.

    Should this really be surprising?

When a domain drops, it's public knowledge.

Don't be surprised if Big G rolls out an update that factors in domain drops and content/link change patterns after each drop.

Don't want to get penalized in the future? Start caring about the welfare of your site visitors.

Build real sites based on real values which focus on real people.

By helping OTHERS get what they need, we get what we want.

I have the crappiest PBN set up, same hosting because i couldn't afford different hosting for each one and its untouched. Because only i am using it and is a privateBN.

If that many of your money sites are de-indexed well you need a course on PBNs again, like yukon said it has to be private.

Also ignore what the above poster said, its just not possible to make your PBN for real visitors with real content and keep updating it unless your network is just a few sites strong. How do you do that with a 50 sites or more strong network ? i would go insane

Not trying to speak for Mike, but you don't add content until you need to. There's no "managing" a 50-site network. You don't have to post 10 times a day for them to be fresh or useful.

Drop your links, add another post or two if you really feel the need, tweak the site for a few minutes, update a spreadsheet and bounce onto the next. The majority of the work is up front.

Google is always going to get a few. If you could see the footprints on most PBNs you would see G isn't working too hard to snag some here and there.

The strategy writeaway mentioned above would work perfect and would be just as easy to implement as the guys building software just to find the domains are doing it.

The only thing writeaway said to do was provide value to your visitors. That's not realistic for a PBN and still isn't gonna get you past an algorithm that looks at domain drops and content changes...

Well, so far, it seems maybe this was a very targeted attack. I guess we'll have to wait to see what happens in the coming weeks.

Oh yeah-you're going to out smart everyone else trying to set up a PBN. Think about what they're doing, versus what you're going to do.

If you do everything the same way that everyone else does....it's likely that they're going to kill it off with an algo that they built-right?

I sincerely doubt there's anyone killing these by hand, but instead I am sure they look for them by hand and build a program to look for others-

How is that not realistic for a PBN? Are you just posting random words strung together with a link in the middle of them? If you are, you're going to lose your network.

Why is it so hard to think you could add value to a site?

Make it an abandoned news site. Or, strip the dates and use evergreen content. Then is it really abandoned?

    Or. Maybe teach someone something?

Theme the site to be how-to based, and teach the visitors how to tie their shoes (to promote a shoe ecommerce site) or how to get rid of ants (for an amazon affiliate blog) or where to find a contractor to get rid of those ants (for a local client).

Put up an about me page that says something like 'I have nightmares about ants, and it's been my life goal to separate them from your home.'

Who cares if it's actually true or not. Just don't look like a blatant spammer. G doesn't want to run around deindexing everything. Just enough to make people scared of using the strategy.

Those are a far cry away from sites that get dinged in algorithms, though. If you get a manual inspection, chances are your network is toast anyways.

Be a craftier spammer if you're going to do it.

It's easy to see how Google could start monitoring domain drops, because everybody and their brother is using the technique. I think they're stupid if they're not already working on something.

There are other ways to get sites for your PBNs, though.

Think about the type of people you encounter every day on here. What do they have a surplus of? Failed aged sites.

If you have bought those links that means those links are not good. Try building your own PBN, that way you are 100% secure if you do it right.
