So yeah, those are my questions.

For those who don't know what the Linkwheel method is: Money Ideas: Linkwheel Method

And the official site (you have to opt in): Linkwheel Explained

So my questions:

1) Is it white hat?
2) Does it work?
3) Are there risks in doing it?

Thanks!

    • I don't know.

I'm a complete SEO n00b but I've read that you "shouldn't link in circles".

  • Pnigro,

I don't know where you heard or read that one, but I've been doing this type of linking for a long time now, and never ran ionto a problem one doing so. Matter of fact, this type of linking gets some of my best results - Well other than linking directly to a related high PR site or page.

It's particularly good to get things indexed fast, for good listings, and for affiliate promotion.

    Hope this helps ...

  • If you are worried about linking in a circle, you can do the same thing, but don't close off the circle of the wheel (so just don't point your last site to your first one).

  • In the report that explains the Linkwheel it says:

On Blogger.com and all the other free blogs you post to... with
each new linkwheel, it's important to make a NEW blog entirely, as
opposed to just making a new post on your existing blogs.
You'll pretty much never have a blog with more than a single post.
Often, on sites such as Livejournal and Blogsome for example, you
need to create new accounts for each new blog.

    What's the reason for this?

Is the keyword in the subdomain really that important?

Isn't it better to keep adding content and pages to these web 2.0 blogs so they can rank better in Google?

    • Yes it works but I normally only do it once each time, so for a new site I might set-up a few properties promoting the site and then never do it again, so really I don't know the true ability of it, but really I don't think anyone needs to go to the trouble of wasting the time and energy on too many self built and self loaded feederpages. There are better ways :-)

  • link wheels are legit and human like although you will have to maintain building the wheel to stay on top of your competitors
  • Just don't let google catch you "buying" links

    • Why not? Don't they make nearly all their money selling links (AdWords)? I buy links from Google everyday, what will they do to me if they catch me buying their links?

  • so you pretty much make a link wheel with for example 5 web 2.0 sites each targeting a different keyword in your niche. and for those 5 sites you make a blog for each and just bookmark each 2.0 site. In the end you are still going to have to build links to these 2.0 sites. How is this of any improvment than just building 100s of hi pr links straight to your site for your main keywords and build more hi pr links to your inner pages for the long tale keywords ? is this the same thing? You are in the end building just links that have hi PR right. Isn't it all the same. I don't understand what you guys are talking about when you say it multiplies you results. ??? whaa? nothing gets muliplied...right? u still in the end have to build those links...right??

      1. 5 web 2.0 sites targeting "long tail keywords"
      2. Make an article on each site with targeted the keyword
      3. Bookmark, submit RSS and building all kinds of High PR Links
      4. You can rank high very fast for "long tail keywords " web 2.0 properties, and get traffic in as fast as 7 days.
      5. You still need to build all your link resources to the main site.
      6. If you put all articles in your main site, it takes time to rank for those articles, the purpose of linkwheel has 2:
      • A) Get Traffic Fast
      • B) Get Instant Backlinks, and along with the link power you build on this site
Another way of using linkwheel is targeting the same "long tail keyword" (no "s" here), but spin multiple version of the articles and put it on various web 2.0 sites, you will see multiple listing of your web 2.0 properties when you type in your keyword in Google!
