I am talking about the quote site brainy quotes. It rank number one in almost every keyword. There is no unique content. All the quotes are available all over the Internet.

Yet Google doesn't penalize it. What I found out is that it has massive backlinks.

Can someone enlighten me.

    This is an easy one.

Brainy Quotes has been around a long time. If not Brainy Quotes, Google has to put something there. So Google considers Brainy Quotes as the authority website for this niche and pretty much ignores the rest.

Same example with lyric sites. In the past there were MANY. But what happened? Google discounted ALL of them because it doesnt need 99% of them, since all of them are the same. In this case, AZ Lyrics has taken the top spot for virtually all songs. AZ Lyrics has been around a long time too.....

It's about consolidating and simplifying the SERPs.

It doesn't matter because Google doesn't penalize duplicate content, they bury duplicate content on weak pages.

Solution... don't have weak internal/external link profiles for pages you're trying to rank.

What google say and mean are completely different things.

I tell you whatever you find in Google documentations is about 50% opposite of what they actually implement in their engine.

As far as duplicate content goes, you could be the first site to post some interesting content and other sites will start copying it, within hours you are off the face of Google into oblivion. The new ones at the top of results will be the ones with the most authority (backlinks). This has happened to me at least once (i don't care about posting new interesting content usually) and my blog was getting 1000 visitors/second (no kidding), lasted only for half a day lol.

So you can be the new authority in brainy quotes, start investing in backlinks tons of them but is it really worth it ?. I don't think they earn that much who searches for quotes anyway ?

You might be surprised what traffic will search.

The one video below has 16,212,865 views.

Assuming that type of traffic was on a self hosted site & factor in any popular evergreen niche product like weight loss, etc..., example, even a low conversion rate like 0.01% for a $20 product would be $32,425.73. Not too shabby for free content, even If the earnings was spread out over months/years...

My point is a boat load of traffic should be able to turn a profit.

Lol... people still think that you need unique content to make money. Wake up. Look through the SERPs once in awhile and stop just mindlessly following the crowd.
