Hi
I'm fairly new to this IM thing but I have some experince in SEO
roughly 'bout a year or so & I successfully promoted a number of websites in the serp

what i noticed is that if only use "white hat" tatics i get bad results
but
if i mix things up with some more grayish play calling i get much better rankings for my websites.

does anyone here have the same expeince?
or maybe the complete oposite?

please share what kind works for you
I would also appreciate if you could point me to a source that provide valuable info on this subject (please no PM)

tnx

I'm not sure what you consider "white hat tactics", but I'm guessing most of us are trying to boost our link profiles more or less artificially. Even something like "web 2.0" or "social bookmarking" in this context are not "white hat".

How many are really only writing juicy articles, and doing link outreach by the book?

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

To tell you the truth, I'm about to give up on this "white hat" stuff myself. I just watched a new site in my niche, with less content and spammy backlinks, rank higher than me. The gloves are coming off now! : )

Maybe with black hat some sites get ranking, but it doesn't lasts longer. Sure these black hat techs will have some adverse impact on the site. It is better to rule the SERP with pure tactics. Read this to know more. Obviously having Google as our biggest search engine daddy, relying on white hat tactics is good.

        I think so too!
Sooner or later, Google will know. And if Google doesn't catch you, someone might report you.. in any case, it's risky and not worth it.

I am not sure that which tactics are you exactly calling as White hat I will agree with 'nettiapina'. Still now also some webmasters use social bookmarking and article submission as white hat but they are completely not.
