Clear difference between Google and Bing

I have awebsite that gets clearly different results from google and Bing.

Used Gondola Shelving - Retail, Grocery, Dollar, C Store

At Bing, if you type "used gondola shelving"....I rank #1.

At Google I am #11.

But at Google, if you type "used gondola shelving____" then type ANY city or state in America, I rank high, depending on the location.

At Bing, I usually only rank for "used gondola shelving _____" with the state, but dont rank at all for city names.

Basically, Bing is ranking based on my URL I think.

How can I get bing to rank me for "used gondola shelving Miami", for example ?

Nah, I think Bing was launched on June 1st, 2009, and they are picking up steam.
Yahoo is their baggage, and their rise will be slow with said partnership.

Bing is MSN search. Same business (MS), same old algo.

I think they even still use the keywords meta tag, right???

I assume you have not been working as a web horse very long

MS needs yahoo. In fact, they just inked a brand new deal. So I have
no idea what your statement even means. With yahoo, they effectively
double their search footprint. Of course that doubling is meaningless.

Nobody yahoos or bings something unless out of convenience, necessity,
or stupidity. Which is one reason why MS makes nothing online, and
yahoo can't seem to get anything going.

Now all you need to do is get people to actually search for used
        gondola shelving.

They wish they were equal to Google Search.

Google probably does more R&D in a month than Bing does in a year.

Thanks for an actual attempt at help, instead of the 'bing-bashing" but I think you can only geotarget the country...

Weekend warriors...no one even mentions anchors, but I have enough internal.

Yes, Google is smarter, well known. Get over it. I get traffic from Bing, I want more.

If Bing's Algo is easy, please gimme some legit tips.

I love Bing/Yahoo. I have about 100 web sites that I use to market a dental plan. As you can imagine it's a VERY competitive key word. By buying domains that match the key word search term I want to rank for I get very good results - in the top 10 on Bing for most of my sites. H1 tags, META tags, key word density seem to be a factor as well.

When it come to Google - use use a back-linking service and PPC advertising. I have tried and failed to master the demon Google. LOL

When talking about SEO, it is easy to assume that we are talking exclusively about Google and its complex algorithms and manners of crawling, indexing and ranking websites based on inbound links and certain key words. The search engine market is huge however, and while Google dominates with a massive 66% market share, Bing and Yahoo together share 29% (we include these two together because Bing powers Yahoo).

The two website Google and Yahoo work on one particular type of mechanism. There are three main functioning of google search engine,Google Bot, Query Processor, and Indexer. Google bot is actually a crawler which crawls different webpage and transfer all the collected information to the indexing database.
Where as bing is a search engine that uses virtual robots known as spiders to index your website. It always checks for any update available to your website.

The syntax in that sentence is so poor that it's almost impossible to understand what you're saying, but Google got started in 1995-1998 (depending on what you count). Bing was only released in 2009.

Google is an old internet technology company, and ancient in internet years. However, it took them years to get the product really out there.

you need to do local citation for your site, then you will get rank on Google. Your using city name in your keyword. so you need local citation for your site. you need to get verified your G+ page for your site.

    Are you checking properly?

in Bing.com on my browser you are ranked number 1- below the ads. (5th)

In Bing UK you are number 1 (no ads on page)

They don't always say "gondola"...some call it c-store shelving, some call it retail shelving, some call it store shelving...most call it gondola, though.

I started this thread, pointing out a very clear, concrete difference in the results from bing and Google.

Most (alot) people search for shelving locally, because its heavy and bulky.

Add a location, I rank high at google.
If the search matches the URl, I rank at bing.

Basically Googles has it figured out, Bing is riding off my URL and name of page.

Ah, I see, in that case you seem to be in a good postion
my search was "used gondola shelving"

What you say people search for is actually quite interesting, because as you undoubtedly know they are two distinctly different things (in the UK)
Gondola shelving is free standing on the floor right? are you ranking for retail wall shelving/brackets?.. just a thought.

Simple difference is Google users are more compared to Bing users. SEO algorithm differs for both and this probably has impact on ranking in SERP. Read this to get a better idea.
