I think this is true, but it is not a good thing. He might be mentioning that the links he is building are similar to new links he's building so the old ones are being disregarded. I can't understand why this would happen. Maybe he is placing links on the same sites.

If your paying for backlinks make sure the work is done correctly because that is a pricey service. Also, I've learned you save a lot of money if you specifiy what links you want. For example, someone will offer SEO services for $200 and they will submit your link to 100 social bookmark sites, send an article to 150 article sites, and submit to 150 directories. This is a waste because you can hire 3 freelancers to do these jobs separately for like $30. If he's building unique one way links on a network of sites he owns, then that's a different story.

If the links were there before and now they are not something is happening, no one can guarantee your links will last for ever. Also maybe the sites the links are on removed them,

Yes it's true.

Here is an example.

If you were on the front page of digg, and google crawled it, then you would get a backlink.

But when Google recrawls that first page, you're link has fallen off the first page, so that backlink is gone.

This is purely an example because i believe Digg is "no follow" links, but you get the point.

In general, I think they still count for your site's ranking, but they won't be showing up doing a link check from Google's site. Of course, it depends on the kind of links. If he's using something like classified ads, then they might be getting deleted after they expire, at which point your links would no longer count for anything.

Most of the links that his using are websites directory's so my guess is that they are been deleted, but should I pay for links that have been deleted? I don't thinks so, am I right?

Links don't disappear unless the page that links to your site goes down. The thing is that search engines discount the link from giving your page that extra boost. I wouldn't worry about it. In the eyes of a search engine a healthy site is always one that continuously gets more links anyway. So your best bet is to get some more links every now and then. I find that if you want your links to re-appear it is never a bad idea to get some links for your links.

You really need to stop using publicly available backlink locations then.

Go and get your own sources so that your backlink stick

I would recommend that you not purchase links. Work on learning as much about SEO and link building as possible.

It almost sounds like he adds your link somewhere only temporarily, and then replaces them or removes them. It sounds shady to me.
