hello folks,


webmaster tools is asking me to choose preferred domain name one is with www and other one is non-www. at this moment i have more than 1k backlinks pointing to non-www domain and only 300 backlinks pointing to www domai . how do you think is it better to make 301 redirect from www to non-www domain in order to increase chance to rank higher on google.

also i want to know is it necessary to select targeted country in google webmaster tools?

    Redirects: you pretty much answered your own question. Sounds like a plan to me.

      It's possible, but I don't think it's very likely. I'd say that Google is smart enough to count both addresses as one in most cases. Sometimes you get both addresses in search results, and at least you'd be eliminating this possible issue.

    There is no advantage to one or the other.

    Pick the one that currently has the best links pointing to it.

    Do it and move on. You posted this 2 days ago and are still worrying about something so trivial.
