It will help, but golden era of EMD gone. There are many factors now, which plays more important role than domain name only. Concentrate on content and visitor engagement for long term success.

My tip is: Always try to use a domain name that is really easy to remember and has something to do with your content. Visitors should remember your domain name, that is really important. A long domain name is not bad for SEO, what counts is the content.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

      What's your excuse?

Have to agree with what has been said. A domain name should be relevant to your page and be easily remembered. From there focus on producing good content and having great user engagement! Good luck!

The length of domain name does not directly affect SEO; however, you do want to have a name that easy to remember. If it's too long, it would increase the difficulty of branding.

Avoid domain names longer than 15 characters. Short domain names are easier to remember, easier to share, and have a smaller chance of resulting in typos.

Forget having your keyword in the domain. Build a brand.

    Hi,

A long domain is usually hard for anyone to remember. People love short, punchy domains that can be written down fast or memorized.

Branding is most important, if can add keyword in your domain name it's extra advantage. Try to register simple domain which is easy to remember maximum two words such as WF, Problogger.net , copyblogger.com etc .

example of odd domain- howtomakemoneyonline.com or makedollarfromonline.com

Just keep it simple and if possible place your main or part of your main keyword inside.. No matter EMD time is over, you can't expect to rank a dog related blog for example with a domain like NBAteams ... So choose carefully!

Domain name text will only really help you rank for the one exact match keyword of the domain name.

So be sure before you create your site that you choose a domain name that can achieve your purposes. Do you only want to rank for the one keyword? If so, "exact match" domains are alright.

But if you want to grow your site and get lots of links and shares on social networks, it may be better to choose a more "marketable" name that people can talk about, rather than a name that is just for SEO.

Yeah, the era of EMD domain has gone. It doesn't mean anything for today. Just create a domain that can remember by your prospective visitor and use principle "content is a king". You should make it all naturally currently.

It doesn't matter domain length at all, just keep the user friendly domain name that may be remembered.
