      huh is it true?

Why some folks mention if your site bounce rate is high
means your visitors never stay long reading on your site

summary = your site sucks? thus that why traffic sucks?

Visitors leaving your site after they see only one page can be caused by many things:

        1. They found what they wanted on the page they landed on (that means, your site was perfect for them).

        2. The page they landed for had nothing to do with the keyword/ad that sent them to the landing page. The page could be great or could suck.

        3. The page they landed on is a perfect match for what they were looking for but something on the page so annoyed them that they just left.

        4. Their mother called them to dinner.

        5. Their spouse winked devilishly at them and went into the bedroom.

        6. The tuna salad they ate an hour earlier got their stomach upset.

        ETC., etc., etc.

Why do some people say bounce rate is a factor in Google ranking? Because they don't know any better and feel the need to say something.

Because there's a lot of misinformation around, and also a lot of people who are either stupid or clueless.

If your bounce rate is high, that's something you may want to investigate. But you need to understand WHY it's high. As DABK pointed out, there's a lot of possible explanations.

Social bookmarking has nothing to do with bounce rate lol. Unless you submit an irrelevant link to an inappropriate social bookmarking category.

Why not asking to your signature links of SEO services? and not relying on others invented issues.

When people see irrelevant links in unrelated topics such as on Reddit, it is most likely that if they ever clicked on the link, it was by accident, and thus bounce off immediately.

No, to reduce your website bounce rate you have to post high quality relevant content for your site.

I cannot fathom how the two are connected in any way. Perhaps they meant it will be disinterested traffic?

Before you submit your article on the link and bookmark the site.
    You have to pay attention.

Article that you submit are relevant to your website.
I think the degree of bounce rate will be small.

Social bookmarking does not affect the bounce rate at all. And more over social bookmarking is no more an important factor for ranking.

An "SEO Company" asking for a simple, most basic (all you need is a common sense) type of question. This is a little irrelevant to your question though, how about you spend a little more of your time on SEO blog sites like MOZ or Search Engine Land to learn more about SEO. Just so you know, social bookmarking is not that different to directory submission; yes chances are your traffic will increase but so does your bounce rate. Links coming from these type of techniques is not considered as quality and most likely to be seen by search engine as link scheme.

    Hello,

I think your website have a problem with speed or irrelevant content. Social Bookmarking is the great way to market your website and to increase traffic. Follow "content is king" sutra to convert visitors into returning traffic.

Generally speaking a bounce rate of about 30% is considered good where as a score of 50%+ is considered negative and possibly points towards landing page issues.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[10129112].message }}
  • Social bookmarking is a technique which helps to rank any keyword in different search engine which indirectly helps the website to reach at the top easily. It wouldn't increase the bounce rate of any website as the bounce rate relates with the traffic.

Social Bookmarking is the most effective factor in SEO. You can get a huge amount of traffic to your website through Social Bookmarking. It does not affect bounce rate.

I don't think its affect the SEO and increase the bounce rate. High quality links always useful. If you use low quality and spam social bookmarking sites then it might be harmful..

Generally speaking these numbers without context are completely useless, and it's not helpful to throw them around.

Social bookmarking is neither of those. It does not usually help with rankings, and most social bookmarking sites do not enjoy that level of traffic.

Along with a lot of nonsense words, the person who invented that
        needs to be shot.

Bounce rate can never be a factor for pure results, based on pure
        SEO, pure pages, etc.

If you title a page "student loan consolidation" and your page is on
dog training.....and your page shows up for student loan consolidation,
the person would click back real quick. Silly idea, but over time,
like rapidly, your site would drop out for that. But it would
be meaningless, as you are not a student loan site.

I click on wikipedia, get what I want in 3 seconds because I
am not an idiot, and surf out.

Oh but wait...how does google know I surfed out, got bored, stayed on
        the sight, or whatever?

        Who gives a rat's behind?

Let's see, I gotta pee like willie mcghee. I click on a site then
go take a long leak. Bounce rate? Dumb concept in the
        first place.

And I cannot fathom WTF social bookmarking has to do
with anything google "might" track as "bounce rate."

My gosh they can't see every friggin' thing that people do
        on their computers...

actually I do agreed with you...

my habit of surfing website..even on technology sites...or news site..

I just see scroll to see headline....that is not even close to 1 sec ..or even 3 or 5 sec..
than noticed some news interesting so click and see ....ok here come ( so call bounce rate ..time people spend on your site )

I read , etc ...than ok go another sites ...

total time taken ....don't even reach 2 min ..or I didn't even stay on the site reading for 5 mins or so.

Is no me ..I beilieve some of you also like this ..so call quick surfing...

Those aren't the same thing. Not even close.

The rest of your comment is very hard to understand (again), but it seems to me that you don't really understand the difference between bounce rate and time on site. How about at least reading the documentation of Google Analytics?
