The Yahoo directory closed? Or are you talking about their new business directory?

Either way, it's not important. Register on their directory if you want, there really isn't any reason not to. However it's not going to benefit you in any significant way. I haven't even thought about the Yahoo directory in years!

It isn't. If someone told you that this would be the time to stop listening to that source.

The links aren't mostly worth the asking price when it comes to SEO. There's at least three dozen links on every page, and most listing pages are not strong even in this very well-known directory. I might get something to a very diluted PR1-3 (yeah I know, a bad metric) which to me isn't worth three digits per year.

Yahoo directory has been closed for quite a while.

It was a very well known directory. Biggest of the planet. But that was oh so 1997.

The internet changed to search engines quite a while back, and
directories became a thing of spam. It was never worth $299 a year.

I was in free way back when, and the link stayed on right up until
      being defunct.

Yahoo directory is dead and buried.

      Case closed.

The new "business" directory is a different animal. It's an orphaned,
      unfinished project at best.

        Ah, I stand corrected.

I just saw that they were still asking money for something like a directory. Small Business something, around $30 per month. Well, can't say that I'm interested in that either... Same price, even worse performance?

I did not see anything earth shattering about that yahoo business thing.
It looks like someone's garage project. If you are correct and it's $30 a month,
it looks like they wanted to start from scratch and still get (roughly) the same
as $299 a year. Maybe 30 a month looks better, but man that thing looks
like a throwback to 1995 when it all started.

I didn't understand what the damn thing was supposed to do, but now that I took another look it's just another hosted site builder. With some sort of built-in directory service, and some other extras.

Would not pay $30 for that, but at least it's much less than a local company around here asks for a very similar service. The actual price seems to be $13 - 249 per month.
