Is it bad to have the same keyword for more than one page?

  • I found a great article on keyword density here. It's an easy read and answers your question pretty well.

    In short, I don't think you want to make multiple pages on your site around the same keyword. You would just be cannibalizing your pages.

    First, forget the comment about keyword density, that's an IMer sales pitch that has nothing to do with ranking pages on Google SERPs.

    Research SEO silos because that's basically what you're talking about, grouping relevant pages that target the same keyword/subject & using internal links to help rank pages. Obviously you'll still need external links. The internal silo pages/links gives you more bang for your buck when building external links.
  • Are we talking about "keywords" or "keyphrases?" There is a big difference. If your website is about web hosting then it would make sense each page is going to have the keyword "hosting" or "host" or similar on it. If we're talking keyphrases then something generic like "linux web hosting" might be okay, but something specific such as "business email web hosting" might start to hurt you. Honestly, I think we'd need a little more information from you first.
  • Its not bad at all but you only missing the large opportunity of having the wide influencers through targeting different keyword phrases in every page of the site.
  • I prefer natural flow of keywords, not exactly keyword density.
    It is putting your target keywords not intended for search engines but how it is supposed to be written (in a natural way). I agree with yukon if you are targeting keywords proper site structure will help you rank your pages.

    • The keyword I'm focusing on is a long-tail and after some research I think the SEO silos is the way to go, but there's still some confusion in my head. I think I need to do some more research.

      Anyways, let me try to explain what I've learned (correct me if I'm wrong).
      I'm using Wordpress and Yoast plugin and I should focus every page to a keyword that is related to the main page keyword, not the same keyword as the main page, right? and link every page to the main?

      Is this correct?

  • Think of it like a swans head. The head is the main keyword page, held up by the body (other pages) and linked by the neck. The bigger the body the more support the head gets.

    The body is not exactly the same as the head, it doesn't look like the head but it is still all swan.
  • Yes it is bad to have same keyword for more than one page even it is harmful for your website ranking or seo.
    Website do not get any benefit from trying to rank for the same keyword ,It does not make any sense ,you only miss guide the site visitor they can not get what they searching for.

    • No, it's not bad.

      You can use the same keyword for 2 pages and rank both pages. You can set up the structure and titles so that nobody gets confused about anything.

      Example:
      keyword: lose belly fat

      page 1: how to lose belly fat
      page 2: lose belly fat fast.

      You can get 1 to be #1 in Google, the other one to be #2, if you're good at SEO and have the resources.

    One page, multiple (similar) terms.

  • No its not bad to use the single keyword for different pages as it will help to increase the awareness of any business all over the world easily. Even it helps to boost the ranking of any website in Google search engine quickly. This is a good strategy and will help the website to get an instant visitors easily.

  • Hi you want to theme your pages

    similar keywords always overflow into each other so I wouldn't worry about this

    also it depends on what niche you are in

    the most spammed niches are always ranked by their Domain Authority

    I have seen many many times websites rank for kewwords they don't even have in their content

    so the keyword issue is not even a issue in this case
