Keyword planner - Exact Match - Is it gone?

Hello,

I have a question regarding the keyword planner. It's been a while since I used it, but now, for some reason, this tool doesn't show me the exact match results for my keywords.

I have tried to use Google and search through the Warrior Forum, and people are saying that Google has tweaked this function. So, is this true that Google shows the exact match by default?

Thank you!

They only show exact match search volume now. They made that change about 2 years ago.

It makes more sense. The broad and phrase search volume numbers were both useless and confusing to people.

What exactly was it supposed to do for SEO that you feel it is not doing anymore?

you hit this on the head, those techniques for identifying keywords you have a potential chance of ranking are gone with keyword planner

everyone in the world is using keyword planner for the same techniques and this has resulted in a saturated search results

in addition ranking on page one is all about Domain Authority nothing else

exact match was only good to get a feel for how many people used this approach to help rank in Google search

it never really helped ever, I've tested millions and millions to back this up

I now see many sites ranking top 10 with not even the keyword in their content

so if sites rank with no keywords in their content what good is it to you to chase this pipe dream

need to think out of the box these days and understand who is ranking in the actual search results and stop burying your head in keyword planner other than a keyword list generator

This is why newbies fail so often. They come to a forum like this where they have been told that people know what they are doing. Then they read a post like this.

Your rambling does not even make sense. On top of that, Domain Authority has nothing to do with rankings. It's a 3rd party metric for evaluating a domain (not a page). It is not a ranking factor.

This x1,000. Keywords have, and will be, the backbone of SEO for years to come. They may not play the part they used to, but good keyword research defines the content people want, not the content you think people want.

Mike you are totally right about Domain Authority has nothing to do with ranking factors

I'll tell you what it does tell you

when the overall average of Domain Authority is higher than your Domain Authority then your chances of ranking are very small

I've tested with software and millions and millions of keywords for more than 3 years

also tested all the other factors known to Seo and I stand by this 3rd parties Domain Authority Values

would love to collaborate with you over this and show you my data

its in the data I found
it's not theory it's real data analyzed

you can't find this stuff in keyword planner, it is in the search results analyzed

            shoot me a PM

Yeah exact match search volume is shown by default, and you cant pull any other volume.

However, if you mean showing keyword suggestions that are closely related to the keyword, click on 'keyword options' on the left then click 'Only show ideas closely related to my search terms'.

When it comes to keyword research its not only the tools but the other possible ways like other platforms to reach your targeted users. Its not the exact search term or the volume of search but its all about "Users Intent" to reach them effectively and converts well.
