Hey Guys,
I need some advice on hiring an offshore agency that can help me with SEO. I am a web developer and have a decent knowledge of SEO. I have a couple of side projects I need SEO for but I don't have the time. I have hired a few people in the past on upwork (former Odesk) just for test purposes to have them work on my tier 2 links but I have been really disappointed. I always end up giving them direction on SEO, so it's like they become more like assistants to me. What I mean by that is e.g they would write one article and without even spinning or re-writing new articles keep posting the same article on document sharing websites. I would advise them to atleast spin the article and change the title. This is just an example. Ofcourse, this is not the greatest way to generate backlinks but has some value especially when it is being done on tier 2 links. So if the person cannot make me links for my tier 2 how can I trust them to make links for tier one.
I have wasted money like this good few times. If you look at their ratings they all have great ratings. I kinda understand the reason for that is because they beg you at the end to give them good reviews.

Now more about the job; I don't have a big budget and that is why I'm looking at agencies in India, Philippines and other countries. I don't want an aggressive campaign. Whatever I can get for around $200 dollar a month, I'll be happy. Ofcourse I don't need thousands of links, If I can have 20-30 links created every month, I'll be happy for now and I'm sure it will help my ranks. I might even be happy with 10 links, all depends on the quality of links.
So can someone give an advice. Any agency names? Any freelancers here?

Thank you!

Doubtful you'll find gold at the bottom of the barrel.

    Try being realistic.

Thanks for your reply. What I don't understand is that there has to be bunch of freelancers and agencies in other countries that charge less than a SEO specialist in the US. When you say bottom of the barrel, you mean I should stop looking offshore? I know some clients that had the same results by hiring companies here in the US. I'm not looking for gold, I have a new website and as long as some white hat link building is being done, I'm sure that will gradually improve rankings. I'm not trying to rank overnight. I did some work myself and my website already shows on the 3rd page of google for my main keyword. It has about 3.5 million results. I think that I might be on the right path.

I have had a great experience hiring programmers for website development for 10 times less money what I will have paid someone here in the US but for SEO I cannot seem to find a good resource. I hardly believe they do not exist. If someone charges me 15 - 20 dollars an hour and puts in 10-15 hours a month researching and creating links. I would be happy with that. Am I living in fantasy world? Is this really not possible ?

Well 15 dollars an hour for 20 hours a month would make your plan of spending approx. $300/month on SEO.

You can find some SEO Agencies who will cater to your plan, but don't expect much out of it. You'd have to stay consistent for at least 6 months to 12 to start seeing some results out of it I'd say.

I won't suggest any names, buy you can find them pretty easily. Go for ones with great reviews. You don't need to go for freelancers if you plan on spending that amount.

You're not understanding the difference between a programmer using their skills & an SEO generating backlinks. An SEO has to acquire backlinks from somewhere, unlike programming where it's all knowledge.

Quality backlinks aren't cheap ($$), they're an expense plus you have to pay an SEO for their labor which is another expense.

For a $200 budget you'll get risky links like fiverr link blast, public link networks, etc... none of those have your best interest in mind. Assumes you plan on ranking pages for a long time without sabotaging your own domain/s with junk link profiles.

I continue to do this on my own. Any suggestions on how can I use the $200 in the best way towards generating back links. Any good resources for paid links?

Man that is one crazy idea. Stay clear of those countries.

Never turn your money sites (or any sites for that matter) over to those
spamming, clowning, joking, choking, scheming knuckleheads.

The free links you can create using your own free sites, would be worth
    1000 times more.

Small budget = more hard work

The sooner you start, the better.

The person who suggested you try those other countries, was an idiot.

Don't bother looking for SEO results that really work for $200/month. It just doesn't work. Here's a piece of advice, don't risk your rankings using such agencies because they will resort to blasting etc and there is a >90% chance your website end up the same or lower.

As mentioned by other posters above, even the manual costs alone would be more than that no matter which country you offshore it too. If you're saying $500-1000/month or more then you can definitely get a good quality SEO agency.

It’s possible to get SEO in $200. SEO isn't about finding products for the lowest prices. It's about finding the finest agency you can. Look for an SEO agency that defines its scope of services, and takes the time to educate you. What you pay is what you get. As you long you choose a quality SEO agency, their decision will lead to incredible amounts of revenue. In $200, you will not get what you want. Rest decision is yours.
    All the best!

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I guess for now I'll stick to doing SEO myself and probably can use the $200 towards generating content.
