Nofollow backlinks is the type of backlinks which help to increase the site traffic only but not page raking in search engine,The nofollow backlinks increase only the traffic to your site and does not increase your page rank in search engine because the links in search engine shows the sign of nofollow that link meaning search engine should not index in a particular link.Example of nofollow link appear in this form <a href=http;//www.website.com/"rel="nofollow">link Text</a> inside this link there is nofollow word mearning search engine should not crawl or index it.

Dofollow backlinks is the type of backlinks which increase page rank and also increase traffic to your site. How it increase the page rank?, search engine have a metric called pageranker calculating the link point of the page, when many people click a particular page that page earn more points, If the particular page gains more clicks the search engine will take it as a good page in search results for the user using pageranker, the more clicks gained the more chance the page will rank higher in search results. And come to increase the traffic source hope everyone know the more clicks on a particular page with different people the more traffic you get.

No-follow is only provides traffic not link juice to your website. Ezinearticles, reddit are providing no-follow links but a huge traffic divert to your website.

I think you're missing Mike's point. It's not the nofollow link that's providing the traffic, but a link on Reddit or another popular website.

The link does provide the traffic. Without the link, there would be no traffic. It just happens to be a nofollow link...

No follow links can increase traffic because if a visitor find a link on other site which has no follow, Visitor is likely to click the link and it can increase traffic. Only disadvantage of No Follow, SEO value will not be generated for back link.

I'm not sure what you're talking about, but that's not a description of pagerank. It's got nothing to do with clicks. We went through this in another topic, but if you don't know how something works why do you post about it?

Also, there's no such thing as "dofollow". There's only links, and some links are marked with rel=nofollow.

You are not able to educate anyone. You're so deeply misinformed that it almost physically hurts to read your posts.

There's no such thing as "dofollow". That's just a normal link. So a bunch of ignorant people use that term? Doesn't make it right.

Who said "nofollow" doesn't exist? You did, but tried to claim I said that. That's called straw man argument. I'm so fed up with that crap that I'll just cut to the chase and call it what it is: lying. You're lying about what I said.

It's a good start to use proper tools, but you should not get your SEO education from their interfaces either.

When Google bots are crawling a website they look for external links point to other websites. If this links is “do follow” then search engines will follows the link and so link juice gets passed.

If a search engine finds a “no follow” backlink it will just ignore the link and will not get deeper into crawling and no link juice is passed.

    DoFollow links

to refer to websites having content that is related.
used to get links from high quality websites.
used for referred content to link to the source of origin

    NoFollow links

used in the comment section as one can have very less control over this section
used on websites having unrelated content.
    used on an Affiliate link.

No. They must be made to understand! Or, I got some free time and this relaxes me. One or the other.

But, yes, it's stupid and has a lot of posts by people who don't know what they're talking about it.

To all the people who talk about dofollow... Create a post somehwere, look at the code... look at links... you will notice that the nofollow links come with rel=nofollow and the rest have nothing, no rel=dofollow.

Then, become convinced that there are link and some are nofollow but the ones that are not nofollow are not dofollow... Because the opposite of a nofollow link is link, not dofollow link.

That is just incredibly stupid. For traffic, a link is a link. It does not matter if it is nofollow or not. 99.999999999999% of web traffic that most websites get have no freaking clue what a nofollow link is. Of course, 99% of the people in this subforum apparently do not know either and this is an SEO forum. WTF?

No Follow links tells the search engines not to follow the link which means it passes no PR and no link juice so it's completely useless when it comes to getting ranked high or building pr, but you should have 1-2% of your links nofollow just to make your link profile looking natural but only for this reason.

Do Follow links tells Search Engines to follow a particular link and it passes PR & link juice so it's good for building PR or increasing rankings in search engines. Most of your links should be dofollow from mid-high PR and mid-high MOZ AUTHORITY domains because that's what gonna get you ranked.

It is important to note that all links are "DoFollow" by default. They are made nofollow by adding rel="nofollow" attribute to combat comment spam, for example.

Also note that there is no algorithm of Google that penalizes your site for having all dofollows, but there maybe in the future! so it's better to have a few nofollow links to keep things looking natural.

Personally, I don't bother with nofollow links and I don't like them.

    Hope it helps.

Nofollow links attributes do not allow search engine bots to follow link. That means if the website owner is linking back to you with nofollow attributes, it does not pass on link juice. Only Humans will be able to follow the links. Though some time back Google made it clear that they don’t consider nofollow link attributes but weightage of such links are really less. Even though, it’s a good practice to use Nofollow link attribute to those link, where you don’t want to pass link-juice.

Nofollow link:- f you always wonder what does nofollow mean then probably here is the answer of it, it's a link is set as nofollow, it means Google bot won't crawl the link and won't pass any link juice.

      <a href= Example 1 rel="nofollow">Example1</a>
      <a href= http://www.example2.com rel="external nofollow">Example2</a>

REL HTML tag: Did you notice rel html tag? it's set as nofollow, which means its a nofollow link. Even if nofollow link doesn't pass any link juice but it can help to bring traffic towards your website, so if you are making No follow link then there is no harm. Google doesn't follow these links, however other search engines respect them, I have explained it in detail at the end of the post.

You can also make an entire post nofollow with the help of robots meta tag for that you can just add the below statement to the page/post.

      <meta name="robots" content="nofollow" />

By adding the above statement you can make a whole post/page nofollow, All the links present on the page will be treated as nofollow even though they don't have Nofollow rel tag.

Dofollow link:- Dofollow link passes link juice and they definitely help you much, in order to achieve good page rank. As it instructs search engine spiders to follow this link.

      <a href = http://www.example3.org rel="external">Example3</a>

The above link is dofollow, generally when you left comment on other site, you will see links with rel external attribute, rel="external" is just to represent that the link is external, it has nothing to do with backlink type. If you find no rel attribute in link then also its being treated as a dofollow link because it equals to REL Dofollow.

A normal hyper link in which Google and other search engine bots follows through the link is do follow link.
A link that doesn't allows search engines bots to follow through are no follow links. A no follow link is added with rel ="no follow" attribute you can check this on the page source of the url(ctrl+ u) and search with using (ctrl+ f)if its a do follow tag or a no follow
if you wish not to send any ranking juice from your site you can use no follow for links.

All links point to another site by definition. If they don't they're not links. Google has said that they also collect and crawl the links that have the nofollow parameter.

I guess this might be a sort of translation problem. "To point" vs. "a point". You could say that Google gives points for "followed" links. That's the purpose of Pagerank.

Now that some doofus dug up this ancient thread I'd just like to add this: Google seems to devalue "followed" links that are in eg. forum signatures and blog comments. They're doing the work that the site owner didn't do.

There is lot of difference. Its like day and night.

There is a term called juice, which a website passess when it links to another website.

    Here are manjor differences:

    No follow:

    • Don't pass the juice
    • Consider the link as non trusted
    • You don't get benefit of the website's high PR.

    Do follow:

    • Passes the juice
    • Consider the link as trusted
    • Benefit of website's high PR
    • Help is link building.

Simply, you don't know what you're talking about and you did not read any of the posts before yours.

Are you that clueless and lazy with the rent stuff in your signature?

Links that are followed increase page authority and help with SEO and, if you're smart, can help you with direct traffic too.

Didn't we already deal with this asinine BS? Do you really think that it's the nofollow attribute that brings a lot of traffic? And what's your excuse for that level of idiocy?

Some of them do. Obviously most are weak, and they're increasingly devalued by Google.

You don't understand what you're talking about, and you're pulling random BS terminology out of your arse. Your post is just incoherent word salad.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

      What's your excuse?

As far as I know no follow backlinks only helps to drive traffic for website/blog. And do follow backlinks has great value. Do follow backlinks use to get ranked on google or other search engine.

Nah! Both can provide extra traffic, assuming they're coming from pages that have traffic.

The difference is: nofollow don't pass PR or anchor text, the regular ones do.

By the way, stupid spamming won't get you far.
