Are Pinging sites still effective?

Hi folks,

Just wanted to know if pinging sites are still effective for SEO. How many of you stopped practising this Off-page SEO strategy

    It's not, and as far as I know it's never been. Pinging these sites may get your content indexed faster, but they probably don't have any effect on rankings.

    URL ping sites still also working. If i talk about link building process then no one technique close but trend has been changed.

    The idea is to inform the big G that you posted a new article for example.. But this is not going to help you get a better ranking or anything like this!

    nettiapina summed it up. They're good for indexing spam fast, but Wordpress doesn't really need it anymore with the rate Google crawls sites. It's not a good SEO strategy if you intended to use it to rank.

    I think pining is done on pages where we have built a link. For your webpage & blogpost you can use "fetch as Googleboat" in Google webmaster tool.

    Yes pinging is still effective, but ping the page once in a month, you can ping inner pages also, i ping every time when i published a new blog, but only the specific post page, not the whole blog again and again

    Yes it is, pinging your website is the online equivalent of waving a flag and yelling, "Hey! Over here - check this out!" to search engines and directories whenever you add or make major updates to the content on your site. Using a Ping tool can speed up indexing because it essentially sends search portals and other services a message from your website telling them that there is new content and to come crawl it.
