ADVICE NEEDED: My website has so much potential but I am stuck

Hey guys.. I started a website called http://how2becool.com/ about 2 years ago now. The highest number I did in traffic in one day was 25,431 and that was courtesy of a post I put up on stumbleupon. I don't really get social traffic anymore. At this point I'm really just stuck. I've been getting between 150 to 250 nits per day for over 5 months now. I am stuck.. Advice?

    Why did it get so much traffic? Replicate.

      I have tried. This was the post - These 3D Illustrations Are Beyond Amazing | How2BeCool its got 53k shares.. Stumble Upon stopped pushing my posts.. It just doesn't work for me anymore. Thanks for responding

        Getting posts to go viral on a platform is an art, not a science. It's not that you can't replicate it, it's just that you haven't figured out why the last one worked yet.

        Try using similar title structures, similar wording in your main text, or linking to similar content. Just go through the list of all the different aspects you can think of and see what works the best. Pick the one method that performs, and keep refining it.

        StumpleUpon isn't probably as popular as it was back in the day, and these "social bookmarking" style services are being spammed to death.

        Have you tried Reddit? Find the right subreddit, and if your content is good you may get decent traffic.

    You were simply lucky in getting this much traffic for a random post.

    Now, you need to, first of all, work on your social - hook up Youtube channel, Twitter & Facebook to your site - that's the holly trinity you might say.

    Next, you should select a couple of keywords your website relates to and optimize for them onpage. Finally, invest a little bit in SEO and some backlinks.

    If your content is of a viral nature you can focus 100% on social media aspect and promote it that way. You can use various scripts to make people who visit your site to share, like or retweet your content in exchange for a download or ebook or something else.

    Stumbleupon shows you the social profiles for traffic that Like your page, it' not really a mystery.

    Get the profiles with the highest follower counts to Like another similar page.

    It seems like you got that much traffic all in one day because of StumbleUpon, I've used that several years ago for some past business and it did get quite a fair bit of traffic spike because of StumbleUpon.

    What you need to note though is that such traffic spikes are usually not sustainable, and cannot be considered as 'ordinary' for your website.

    Just continue working on SEO and social media marketing and guest content marketing (if applicable) to grow your visitors.

    Looking at your site again, perhaps you could go the Buzzfeed link bait (article titles) way and get on Facebook to market. It worked very well for them and most businesses that follow their model (assuming your content is relevant to this) succeed as well.
