I didn't put new articles/news on my website for a while and my views have decreased tremendously.

I've made a website 4years ago and it ranked well and my normal per day views was 1k-2k. In the last 8-11 months, i wasn't writing any articles/news because i was busy. And for sure, my per day views is now 100 only!

My question, if i started to write articles and news again, will i get the 1k-2k per-day views again? and if yes, when?

Plus, how can i know if my website didn't get penalized by Google?

You can easily test if your website was penalized or not in the following way:

    Enter in Google search: yoururl.tld
Is it ranking #1? If yes, try yoururl tld (without the dot)
It should still show up at the top.

Finally try yoururl and yoururl your title.

In all of these instances you should be seeing your website near the top of Google search.

You can also try full post/pages titles if they are unique enough or combination of URL and post/page title.

If you are not showing on the first page for a unique title, your website is most likely penalized.

The TLD thing didn't work, but the other things did.

Back then, my posts were being showed up in google almost after 2 hours max after publishing it in my website, but now, it takes 1day to see my post in google search. WHY?

Noone can tell you this... You could have a website that gets MILLION of visitors per month in 2010 for example... If it's NOT so interesting today (like for example a World Cup in a specific year!), you can't expect to have more than 10,000 in 2015 So it depends on the people's interest and the trending topics!

Readers tend to like new stories from the website and getting updated is the best for them because of the benefits that will be given from the content. Its just like building your brand from your targeted audience.

Very little information in this thread. Something was, but isn't any more. You're not even stating what you were ranking for, how much your rankings have dropped, or what are you comparing the current moment agains. For all I know your views might have come from social media shares, and you might be comparing slow summer months to your top month.

If it's really about search I'd examine the competition that does better than you, and see if your link profile is still fine. You may have lost links, or if your link building wasn't that good perhaps Google has devalued the links.

Nobody can tell you if the same strategy works or not. I'd still give it a go.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

It depends on various facts. You can update your previous posts first (while updating there is no need to change anything inside the text). Then you can create new content, make sure you include some links to your previous posts, just to make a more relative content to your previous. Post new articles on various social media chanels you have, drive some traffic and after a month check your google analytics, just to make sure your website is up and driving organic traffic again

Just a guess, you said the site has not been touched in four years? Is the site mobile friendly? Google " Google mobile friendly test" and type in your URL to find out. This Spring Google updated their algo and slapped non mobile friendly sites. That's my guess.

    Best,

You cant expect to write posts 11-18 months ago and hope they keep on ranking without touching your site in some time, unless your a powerful site in your niche, the longer time goes by with no activity, you will start to fall of the radar, and competitors will overtake you. Posts become dated and users like the most up to date information, like i said unless your a powerhouse in your niche you will slide.

My take is, try updating the posts and republishing them with the update content, and make some activity around the site,

This happened to me 2 years ago i ranked page 1 number 1 for a longtime, then i took time away to persue other offline things, approx, 7 months, to find my site rocked down to bottom of page two

I republished and updated posts, promoted where applicable and wthin 3 weeks i regained my spot, got to keep on top of things this day and age

hope it works out for you
    Bertie
