Currently no 3 or 4 on google, aspirations for no 1

Hello

There is one page on my site that is very important to me, it currently ranks 3/4 on google europe.

I did a lot of elementary seo and link building about 6 years ago, but the links that were ok then are penalised now, so I don't trust myself to do any more seo.

I would like to move higher but I don't know how to go about it, short of doing a search on google for seo firms.

Does anyone have any idea of whats involved and the possible costs of doing this?

Thank you for your help.

Richard

You need to employ traditional white hat SEO tactics.

    1. Write great link worthy content, that is related to (and links to) this important page.
    2. Promote that content to lots of related websites, and hope they link back to you.
    3. Write blog posts for other related websites, and link back to this page.
    4. Explore the links pointing to your competition and target those.
    5. Do not over optimize the link text.

So many other things you could do. There are lots of helpful resources out there for this kind of stuff. Check out backlinko.com for starters. He provides a ton of valuable white-hat techniques.

I presume you mean you are already at positions 3 to 4 for your keyword? If so, why won't you continue what you did? (I have to make assumptions here because I don't know what exactly you did) Assuming you saw success, just repeat what you did except for the link building methods you did which got penalized for. To get to positions 3/4 for keywords with at least a moderate level of competition is good and you just need to step up what you did.

However, if you mean pages 3 to 4... then it's another story. Let us know what you mean then we can give you an accurate reply.

Yes we are at number 3 or 4 on page 1 of Google.

6 or 7 years ago a lot of people were using methods of getting backlinks, such as article submission, direct links to low quality sites, posting on forums and other white hat methods which none the less are penalised for now. The page in question does have some competition and I am reasonably satisfied with being where we are.

I had hoped I could pay someone to take this forward.

Build a PBN - Private Blog Network and link to it. These links won't get penalized if you setup the PBN properly.

6 years is very long to study SEO and I wonder why still elementary SEO and link building. There are lots of reputable sites that will be considered as your guide or source to improve your skills. Achieving number 1 spot position will require time to invest in the website to be well established on the related field.

There's no such thing as "Google Europe". Do you mean France? I'm not quite sure what's your niche, but if it's a nice competitive keyword then good for you.

I'd be less impressed if it's something like "esoteric book binding", for example.

Please don't. If you're feeling shaky with everyday SEO, you should not attempt anything this complicated.

There's a lot you can do. See what kind of content you have, and try to see what ranks for you. New content doesn't automatically help you to rank any better, but if you can find good angles and keywords to target adding some more might work. Just remember that you likely need to advertise your content to potential audience. Try to see what your competition is doing: what kind of articles they have ranking high, and what kind of link profiles they've built. See if you have partners, friends, clients or other contacts who would like to link to your site.

You know, the normal web publishing stuff. It's very unlikely that it'd get you penalized.

If you're hell bent in doing some speedy link building then I guess outsourcing isn't a bad idea. Finding a reputable provider isn't that easy, though.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?
