I would guess the tutorials you are looking at are awful or you are doing something wrong.

SEO does work. The reason it works so well for some people is because they don't share with anybody else what they do. If you found something that worked really well for you in SEO and shared it with others people would simply copy it and it would not work as well for you anymore. So the best SEO strategies are kept secret for the most part.
But basic SEO works. They are basic guidelines for using keywords, headlines, number of words, media etc... stuff that works for everyone but it does not get you #1 ranking.

If your project is feasible, you're doing something right, and you're looking at the right metrics you should start seeing some results in couple of months. But we have no idea about any of these.

When we talking about SEO few years back (before 2010) that wasn't hard task. Social book marking, Directory submission, forum posting,Article submission....etc more than enough to rank some keyword on good position.Every thing has changed last few years. Google introduce some new algorithms and avoid the spam and unnatural backlink methods and the over optimizing works.But now challenge is so hard. When you going to create backlinks to be more creative and spent lot of time.But SEO is still working.

Thirdly,it depends on what and where you are reading. Even the good tutorials will not tell you the whole story. You need to figure it out yourself. Get a dummy website where you can practice while leaving your main website intact. That way you learn what works and what doesn't. Never implement a plan on your main website unless you have tried it.

As you say SEO in not working for you; it may be possible that you are missing something. or may be you didn't do your onpage effectively.

How long have you been working on the SEO side of your site, I mean for instance if you put the site up and then did SEO and didn't get results in days that would explain a lot, but you get my point, we need more information on what you have done up to now.


Since SEO isn't the main thing you want though, it's targeted traffic it would be quicker to buy it, saves you time and allows you to scale things based on your results.


SEO while it is great to be page one isn't exactly scalable since you don't control how many visitors visit the site or when like with paid advertising. So include your link or niche and everyone here will be able to help you out more.

Well though being new in the field of SEO, i can confidently say that it does work... But it depends on the methodology that you take to pursue the goals.. Sometimes even a simple tweak in the meta tags do wonder.. For example: Recently I was able to improve ranking of a site by just removing the line breaker from title tags.. And performing 301 redirection to the pages that lacked gas.

So SEO does work but it totally depends on what niche you are..
