Need Help Buying A Domain

Hi Guys ,

I have found a good domain but it's really expensive . I want to make sure it can help my SEO before buying it .

Pagerank of the domain : 3

Moz DA : 41

Moz PA : 51

Number of reffering domains : 1500

If I buy this domain and use this address as my main address , Can I expect any improvements in my rank on google?

  • Those metrics mean nothing.

    You need to use something that tells you if the links actually exist today. Moz, Ahrefs, and Majestic do a good job of finding links, but a lousy job of keeping up to date with if the links still exist or not.

    DA/PA are highly inaccurate metrics to use, especially if you are planning on laying out a decent amount of money based on them.

  • Well I have checked and the backlinks are present . Ahrefs Domain Rating is 45 and Url Rating is 75 . With what said , Is this domain worth buying and Will it help me rank high on google ? I have checked and all my competitors are using these kind of domains with less pagerank and DA and backlinks . So I think my domain will top them . Any other ideas?

    • It would depend on the price, wouldn't it? Probably not if it's "really expensive", but companies have paid seven digits for a short domain that fits their branding, so it depends on other factors too.

      It's impossible to say if the domain would help that much. Potentially yes, but it's always possible that you don't know how to use it to the full potential, or that Google detects that there's something funny going on.

  • Well it's now located On first page of google for a keyword that's not money making ! I want to take it and use its power to get me in the first page of google in a keyword that makes a lot of money each day . If it was penalized the domain wouldn't be first page and site:domain.com wouldn't return 400+ indexed pages . The fact that I found this domain and someone is ready to sell it doesn't mean that it's useless or penalized . Maybe the owner can update anymore or he wants to start something else , we can't know for sure . But all I know is that I'm not that stupid to pay this much money for a penalized domain. Please give me more credit Dear Mike . haha xD

    • How would I know you are not that stupid? Many are.

      The result from site:domain.com does not mean a domain is not penalized. Google does not deindex all penalized domains. The ranking for a keyword though is a likely sign that it is not penalized, so you are okay there.

      All that being said, without seeing the domain or understanding the niche you are after, nobody here is going to be able to offer any additional advice. Either buy it or don't buy it. That is entirely up to you.
