Not Sure How to Target This Keyword

I am looking to make a squeeze page to collect email opt-ins. In return, I am giving away a short report on bitcoin.

The keyword I am interested in is 'bitcoin value'. It has ~77,000 monthly visits according to Google AdWords Planner with 'low' competition.

I cannot decide however, if I stand a chance to compete for this keyword as users are only looking for the current bitcoin price and perhaps not a full report. Therefore, I am currently debating whether to change the title of the report to "Bitcoin Investment Report". However, that keyword is getting little to no action.

What is the best move here? Attempt to beat the competition with the keyword "bitcoin value" or go with something which aesthetically makes more sense "bitcoin investment report".

What would the experts here recommend? Hat tip to best advice.

  • 1. Your keyword is high competitive. You can not rank this keyword with low cost. I recommend you research more long tail keywords.
    2. Your title of report should change to Bitcoin value-Bitcoin Investment report
  • Google Adwords Planner is a bad judge of a keywords competition. Do some more study on how to analyze a keyword.
  • Instead of going for a keyword that will take forever to rank, when don't you go for longer keywords eg 3 words minimum. They are a bit easier to rank and yes, some have good traffic. I better go for a 5 kws having 5k searches combined instead of one kw with 5k searches.

    I've searched a variation of that keyword (bitcoin price) outside of SEO, I never went past hxxp://www.coindesk.com/price/ because it shows more up to date data than Google SERPs bitcoin price. I got what I was looking for.

    Personally I would focus on more targeted keywords, especially when it comes to tough competition (ex:coindesk.com) .

    • Thank you for the help and advice thus far guys. I has become apparent to me that I need to do some more learning on how to target specific keywords and phrases.

    Yes i agree the keyword you choose has very high competition so it is not easy to rank this keyword.Choose some long tail keywords to get easy keyword ranking.
