  • SEO is the same for all search engines.Just follow the same "white hat" rules and you will be fine.
i noticed my sites get indexed faster on bing and it finds links faster.just my observance.

They are similar, however each search engines use different formula's.. eg. Google may value backlinks more than other search engines, yahoo may value unique content more

Well, my experience is that bing is a lot easier than google - just build enough backlinks and you are there.

I have abandoned the SEO work with some site and eventually in tough niches they lost their lovely spots (because there the link building competition is HUGE) and on bing they are still ok.

I was not doing any specific research on bing, but when I saw some of the abandoned sites to be there page 1 - I told to myself about this SE "another one bites the dust"

SEO is the same for all the search results on the whole and there are only some small differences that are not worth worrying about.

If what you guys are saying then I must be on Mars. I have #1 spots all over google and yahoo (11 @ #1 and 4 others in the top ten), and I'm nowhere to be found yet in Bing (minus one site that is very aged and has ridiculous traffic).

I'm not saying you all are wrong, but I've been at this a while now, and there has to be some subtle differences to optimize for Bing different from the rest. I'm in Bing, sitemap submitted from all my sites (15 right now), URL's all added and it's doing me little good because Bill Gates is flat out ignoring me.

  • Bing is still pulling an average market share of 5%. I have not noticed much of a traffic increase at all from Bing across a wide variety of niches.

For example: One of my niche sites that relies heavily on Organic Search pulled these numbers last month (And Bing Was Heavily Promoted in July):

    Google 61%
    Yahoo 18%
    Bing 5.54%

In another niche on a site that pulls most of it's traffic from referrals non organic search. Bing was still sitting at about 5% and Google less than 20%.

Across the board no real changes from Bing/Microsoft since the big roll out.

And I work a large variety of niches.

So my advice would be to keep focusing on Google. Let the Bing thing work it's way out. Who knows what is going to happen with their supposed acquisition of Yahoo Search.
