    Hi,

Well I think it is better to get one good referral link than 10 medium ones. See your clients client and suppliers and other companies that might benefit in referencing you n their web site. Than take the phone and call them. Else try something automated that can suggest partners for you like linkking.org

I agree totally with this. Your onpage SEO is where it all starts and it needs to be awesome before you consider doing any kind of link building.

      Couldn't agree more..
Thanks for listing most of them :-)

I'd add guest posting & Brand Name commenting ..
+ Link Bait, is a very good technique also :-)

The thread is about SEO techniques... What you have there is a list of activities, some of which are not about SEO or are about poor SEO or need some qualifier...

        Why do you agree, then?

        It's a long list, it's true.

But there's no need to thank, it's a long list full of crap... Most items that is, are crap. As in, they have nothing to do with SEO.

On page and Off Page SEO both are important. The first thing that you need to do is to add your website in webmaster account. Secondly you need a strong social media profiles for social media marketing. Thirdly focus on quality content to engage the users.
Your website must have fast loading speed. Index it to Google and other main search engine and focus on quality backlinks. I hope it will help you a little some.

I don't know it All In One SEO has changed for WP, but in my experience, it really jacks up the coding of WP - especially when it comes to google indexing your site. Maybe some of the other members here know more about this than I do, but in my opinion, I wouldn't use SEO plugins unless you really know what your doing.

For instance, say your page is about frying pans or something and your main site is cookware that rocks... (an example lol). Well, when using All In One, it wouldn't show the correct page meta, nor could google properly index the page to allow it to be listed in google properly for the keywords I intended to rank for. The site would rank okay for cookware that rocks, but not for individual post meta data. Does that make sense? Also, when you remove ALL IN One, it may really damage your coding.

Some of the methods listed here are so 2010, they use to work well now google has caught on there's no low hanging fruit left, you either get very creative with things like media baiting to attract links from real sites with real traffic or good ole PBNs if done right still work a treat, but anywhere that accepts user generated content has very little link juice left these days...

This list is quite an achievement. There's only one technique that's sometimes ok. Other's are pointless or bad, and then there's the stuff that's potentially harmful like link wheel, and the SEO fraud sales pitch that's edu/gov.

      Ignore this guy.

Nothing per se. It's just the fraud version that's bad. Usually there links are very poor: nofollow and/or on a very weak page. There's been threads about edu/gov where people have said that they're specifically trying to locate blogs on .edu domains to spam. It should be obvious why that's a completely pointless exercise.

The domain extensions have no extra ranking power. The institutions may be well-known in real world which often means that their front pages have high PR. The point is that the average IM site or spam blog has no way to get a link on front page, or another strong page.

If you can get a link from real page on edu/gov site - well, that's really good for you. And academic institutions do link to all sort of partners and other institutions all the time.

No, they aren't. Please stop shouting.

      1. Social Networking Sites - Often poorly indexed, usually nofollow links, usually weak pages.
      2. Blogging - Where? I guess something someone calls "blogging" can work.
      3. Blog Marketing - Marketing should not affect SEO. So says Google.
      4. Forum Marketing - The same as above. But both of these can work in some cases.
      5. Search Engine Submission - It's not a SEO technique to tell someone that your site exist.
      6. Directory Submission - Maybe, if you find some decent directories.
      7. Social Bookmarking - No. Poorly indexed and weak pages.
      8. Link Baiting - This is legit.
      9. Photo Sharing - Why? At best you can spam image search, but it's not very likely.
      10. Video Marketing - As a marketing tool, why not. Probably not that beneficial for SEO.
      11. Business Reviews - If you want to fill the search, maybe. As a link source probably not too great.
      12. Local Listings - Yes, if you know what you're doing.
      13. Article Submission - Submission to where? In many cases this is toxic.
      14. Social Shopping Network - You've got to explain the mechanism by which this helps.
      15. Answer Questions - Usually nofollow links, and notoriously hard to keep your account.

      You get 5 / 15. That means F.

I wonder on what basis you have said those points are not genuine SEO activities. Our objective is to get traffic to website that converts and hence increase the online sales. Just because what Google is says we all are running in the same direction. We should use our brain and find the most relevant sites for promoting our business. P.S. about 80% of the firms and SEO companies are utilizing these SEO techniques to get to the top of SERP.

The links are nofollow and/or extremely low value. That's mostly the reason here. Did you not read my comments on your supposed techniques?

For example, photo sharing. You'll probably get a new page which is PR n/a for a long time, possibly for ever. You might get a backlink to the description, but it's probably a nofollow. What do you exactly get from this exercise? Even if your image ends up in the image search it doesn't really help your money site in any way.

Is there some mechanism I didn't understand? Please point it out.

That's precisely why these lists are bad for newbies. They take the category title without understanding what makes a strong link, and if it's possible to get one at all.

Dude, please don't do that. Most here know that such stats are pulled straight out of thin air, and everyone who stops to think for a second understands that you can't even know that sort of a thing.

What do you exactly get from this exercise? Even if your image ends up in the image search it doesn't really help your money site in any way.

Is there some mechanism I didn't understand? Please point it out.
We shouldn't try to work for search engines. These "PR, PageRank, Keywords" are all terms which when you utter shows that you less care about your customers and more worried about your online business. What if we write quality content for our customers, telling them about our products and then uploading the articles on famous article submission sites? Same goes to doing Social media where we share useful information in the form of images, texts (posts) and product details on the timeline? Don't you think it will will good to attract traffic to the website?

Why did you waste any time writing this bunch of lukewarm wishy-washy nonsense? You're not saying anything at all, and the conclusion about traffic seems like a deliberate red herring (assuming you understand that traffic is not a factor).

Social media has nothing to do with this discussion. I have nothing against social media. It's just not SEO for the most part.

Again, what's your proposed mechanism behind image sharing as a SEO tactic? Stop weaseling and answer the question. Or don't, but there's no point in replies that pretend to address the question when in reality you say nothing.

Today, links are mainly achieved through developing original content that is in turn, shared across social media. Links to your content on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, YouTube and other social networks help the search engines understand what websites are credible and should be ranked for what keyword phrases. Why don't you get that Social media plays a vital role and it helps SEO by many folds?

                Regarding Image Sharing

Getting high pr back links just by share photos in the website for SEO is working very effectively for achieving higher ranking in search engines for the targeted keywords easily. These websites are becoming so much popular because users can share any photo of their choice with the friends and followers and in the description field they can mention URL of their web pages or website to get inbound links from these web portals.

Just say that you subscribe to the social signals hypothesis. There's no need to discuss this misinformed BS any further. We can just shake our heads and be done with it.

No, "search engines" mostly get absolutely nothing from social media. Google reps have recently said they do not use social signals. The most advanced search engine doesn't use them let alone "engines" in plural. Do you even have any idea how hard that is to get done? You need to painstakingly build connections to their APIs, and make contracts that force them to keep those APIs alive and unchanged for certain period of time, and make sure they fight spam at least as valiantly as your own team. Still you'd rely on potentially crappy 3rd party data.

Why don't you get that you're proposing pure magic as the mechanism? Have you even stopped to ponder if the BS you write can match reality?

I see that not saying anything at all is your thing. It's sort of amazing that you got that many words there without even touching on anything concrete.

Why do you think the links are "high PR"? Just because of a front page? Do you even understand what makes a good backlink? I already told you why the links are poor, but you decided to completely skip that topic and keep on posting platitudes and empty buzzwords.

You can't argue that the popularity of a website that's intended for something completely different means it helps your SEO. That's just completely misses the point.

If link building is a "feel good" exercise to you, fair enough. Just don't try to fool other people to waste their time.

It is not right what you are saying. I have been doing link building for 3 years through forums, blog comments, social bookmarkings, and article submission, and also doing social media for my projects. They are responding satisfactorily. It has been since three years, I repeat!

Again, that says nothing at all. You can do something that's ineffective for years, and see some minor success that you attribute to your method. That's normal. You don't seem to understand anything about measuring the strength of a backlink, so I think it's fair to assume that you'd be satisfied when the number of backlinks increases. After all, you only lack a few methods to have all the popular low-grade backlinking tricks on your list.

Do you not see how you evaded the real question again? What do you think is the reason you can't defend a single thing you say?

You should at least try to understand what makes a good link. No shortcuts, no feel good BS jargon, no claiming that PR flows in mysterious ways. Even if you end up using the same basic approaches you're able pick the sites that have some potential to help you.

What according to you should be done to get positive result out of SEO activity? I really need to know this. As the deadlines are so short and clients want to see his keyword improving on Google from the day the project is handed over to us, in such tight schedule and pressure how much experiment one can do, if not follows the traditional approach of SEO?

I've posted about that already in this same thread. If something doesn't work because of reason X it should be easy to derive what should work.

Check that there's a clear way how you can benefit from a link. The linking page (not front page of the service!) needs to have some "Google juice", the link needs to be "followed", and the linking page should not have excessive number of links. I'd take a peek at the link profile of the potential linking site because there can be monsters lurking under the surface. There's some more considerations of course, but that's the basic stuff.

The first point also sort of covers this, but the linking page should not be buried too deep or be a complete orphan. The whole exercise is pointless if Google's crawler can't find the page, or there's no flow of "juice" to the page.

The last point is about dilution. If there's 30 links on a page you're getting just 1/30 of the "juice". Nofollow links are counted to the total which means that they just "lose" the "juice". This is a simplification, but you get the gist of it.

Directories can work if you find good ones. Guest posting can work, but the amount of work seems disproportionate to the benefit from a single link on a new page. Article directories are very very questionable, but there's a change that you'd find one that's not spammed to death. However, I'd just disregard "article submission" at this point.

Thanks for the information. I have read some related theories about link building on SEO guide for beginner at Moz. It is very hard to find which site has "do-follow" link service enabled and even if you find one, your comment/article may not be published on that site, which is very frustrating at times!

Why do you assume that people who talk about keywords don't care more about their customers?

If you care about your customers and you write quality content, like you say, then what?

How does you customer find your content?

On an SEO sub-forum, people talk about finding it through SEO, hence, they talk about keyword.

On the mobile marketing sub-forum, they talk about short codes.

Anyway, how do you get your great content found?

Everybody telling your right but these all are not so much effect in 2015 . First make good structure ON-Page . Your low competition keywords can rank with good structure of on page seo .

But for high competition or high searches keywords you need also off page . You should learn advance level of off-page seo techniques. Upper post all friend telling you about seo link building techniques all are good but if you want fast ranking then need to create natural backlink and this is only possible to unique content and for my searches many big blogger are suggesting guest posting, get link from broken link ,

Real links that are editorially earned. The links that really count and really make a difference are the ones that you had nothing to do with creating.
All those "submission" approaches are more likly to get you an unnatuarl link penalty (also the penguin algorithm is close to being re-run )

CBPayne So there isn't anything I can do on a proactive basis? I just sit and wait for someone to find my site, think it's terrific and link to it? I'm not being sarcastic -- okay maybe a little -- but how do I get those links? I've been away from IM for awhile, and I have half a dozen sites I'd like to start promoting and getting much better search engine ie the Google Gods - ranking. sites are from 3 to 15 years old.

I used a lot of the methods mentioned here but that was back in the day, way back in the day.

If you don't want to divulge your methods in a public forum, I understand. Feel free to PM me.

Create one amazing piece of content... Contact site owners whose visitors would benefit from your amazing piece of content... Ask them to link to it.

Find broken links... figure out what content the links were pointing to, create content like that (but better, updated), contact the site owner and tell them, Hey, your link is going nowhere... Here's something that matches your reason for linking out.

Really comes down to earning your links. Once you have the main directories in place, have some good quality content on your site you need to outreach and create value to other website owners so they will link to your website. Try running competitions, look at getting reviews, offer them something for their readers to add value.

Create a 'Power Page' on a topic at least 2000 words and conduct outreach, not in an automated tool, do it the manual way, a few high quality liks and good social sharing will give you a good push.

Here are some of the off page techniques. The best way is to create unique content and do content marketing. Nowadays content marketing is the best form of SEO, you can also promote that link in social media to gain more viewers.. And also try working in local business listing, pinterest, infographics and slideshare..Do not focus much on link building it is almost outdated. There are few quality sites from which you can get good backlinks.

I went through all replies about the best off page SEO techniques 2015. The standard best techniques are not found anywhere over the internet and they are not declared by search engines authorities too. But they make ambiguous statements about this but search engines follow their rules or not I do not know. Matt has declared that if your site's back links come from too many blogs then it would be harmful for your website and its ranking. It means you may have some back links from blogs. Some webmaster believe that back links should be placed on high ranked sites. But it is quite difficult to gain back links from high PR sites a they provide nofollow links.

I believe that good ranked sites still matter for back links whether they provide dofollow or nofollow links. We must have some nofollow links from good sites for good reputation of our sites. Nofollow links from good sites are better than having no links.

I don't think so.. Link wheel is working.

Never I recommend "Link Wheel" strategy. That's very old and some how "Black Hat" too.

    Step 1:
    Audit your client website.

    Step 2:
Fix it and Do On-Page Optimization.

    Step 3:
Guest Posting, Infographic, Article Marketing, eBooks (PDF Submissions), Blogposts (PBN) and Authority Links (Magazine Links - Ex: Examiner, Medium etc).

Then, Directory Submission, Image Sharing, Forum Link Building, Citation Optimized. (Please consider final stage.)

Just went through the list that most provided here and it doesn't seem that much different from techniques from 2010. Does this mean that techniques in 2010 work in 2015? After all of the google updates? Or is there an updated 2015 way for SEO?

How about private blog networks? Do they still work? Do you still use PBN's? or some other automation tool or something that's newer today?

What most provided here is garbage. The tactics might've sort of worked in 2010, but certainly not any more.

In 2015 you need to evaluate your link sources more thoroughly than before. You can just skip pointless crap like social bookmarking.

Most of the PBN's are sold to SEO'ers anyways, so i reckon that most of the PBN's still has an element of risk to it?

Well unless you run your own PBN that you use yourself, but the amount of resources needed for it makes it inaccessible for most average SEO'ers.

I would say so, but there's always some risk associated with building "artificial" links. If you're keeping a low profile it's not too risky in my opinion. Then again, the tolerance for risk also depends on your business or clients.

A major Off-page SEO technique is social media engagement. If you want to make your website popular, engage with people on multiple social media platforms. When using social media websites to protect from future Penguin-like Google updates is the potential for social networking traffic to minimize your reliance on visitors from Google and the other search engines.

SEOthink, my friend, your answer is wrong on many levels but I'll focus on helping you: how are people going to hire you for translation services when you can't even write a proper sentence?

You know, "All kind of link building with authorized" is a meaningless string of words.

Do a little bit of everything. By doing this your SEO looks organic. Somethings may not really benefit SEO but if you do it anyways than it looks like you are NOT trying to SEO so it looks organic and natural.

I have to say. Lots of good suggestions on here. I think that there is a definite way to get some good results, depending on the competition of your clients niche. Social signals to PBNs to Clients sites in that order will have a solid effect. Also, for the less money intesive, PBN's cost... Social signals to 3 or 4 web 2.0s to main site. Now, don't start linking all the sites together, that is a quick way to get the attention of google and some negative SEO on the site. The goal is to create a system that will not be easily identified by competitors and the Big G

Business Listening: That's a new one to me. So I listen to a business? I don't know, maybe?

Forum Posting: Most forums are nofollow now, like this one, so your signature links do nothing here.

Classified Ads: Most of the big sites like craigslist are nofollow now.

Directory Submission: This really depends on the directory and submitting your site to thousands of directories with the same description is usually a waste of time.

Article Submission: Not really, most of the directories are either nofollow or are penalized. The links coming off a follow article directory, that has been penalized, are basically equivalent to pr0 links. You can easily figure out if a directory has been penalized by looking at the number of keywords ranked by google historically. If you see a sharp drop then it's been penalized for being a content farm.

Blog commenting: Most blogs are nofollow and if you happen to find one that does have follow links, it's either going to be heavily moderated, or not maintained. Un-maintained blogs with follow links and auto approve comments get spammed hard and the links coming off of them are extremely weak. You need thousands of them to do much, which creates a massive footprint and you get penalized sooner or later.

The more time I spend in this forum, the more I realize that a site like backlinko is actually helpful to people. I guess being in the SEO game as long as I have, I didn't realize how completely misinformed people are.

Obviously Brain's site is not helpful to me since I tested a lot of the strategies that Brian's discusses, before he published them. To be honest, most of them don't really work well for me, the results are always random. My main issue is that they were all discussed elsewhere, it's not new, he just put the old information into a format that is visually overwhelming and all the people with ADHD freaked out and linked to it.

It was really painful for me to type that.

How do you know if a page has a PR of 4 or higher? How do you get them to add your post to the PR 4 or higher page?

SEO has not changed the way you think, you still need good links... and what you suggest doesn't get you good links, just a lot of busy work.

I am really disappointed in just how lazy the spammers and crappy SEOs have gotten around here.

Here we are in December and nobody has started the "SEO in 2016" threads. Those things usually start hitting in September, and by October they are full-blown.

Best SEO for 2015 for me is mainstream media mentions, i.e. getting a link in an article from a national daily newspaper.

It's also just about the only thing I actively do offpage anymore.

I have a media page with links to every place I've been referenced in. The media go looking, find me, and realize they can use me as a source. Just letting them know that you're approachable and experienced in giving them soundbites is a huge boon. Reporters want to go right to experts with an opinion they can quote.

And while I get referenced on a variety of topics in my industry, one that seems to be coming up a lot is my contrarian viewpoint on an industry product. The whole industry love one product and I'm a naysayer - so the media calls me for the counterpoint. Boom, another backlink from a national newspaper.

I'm also quite clear every time though - I always ask for a specific link. Reporters know the deal. You want my info and opinion, I want a link.

Exactly; that is how I get my links for my main site. Just one in-content link from the NY Times (and I have several) is worth a zillion forum posts, directory submissions, blog comments etc

You are contradicting yourself here. You 'go for the quality work' but list article submission, forum posting, social bookmarking, etc. as SEO activities you do.

You may, actually, produce quality work (as in, you write great articles) but you don't produce quality SEO work.

Read the thread, you'll get ideas for quality SEO work... Dump the bookmarking and Co. crap.

Generating quality content has nothing to do with SEO. Go to page 8 in Google for some of your keywords and read some of the content that's ranking on that page... You'll find some it's high quality...

SEO is the group of activities that tells search engines that a page is a better match for a search query than other pages... If you don't do those activities, you're not doing SEO. Got it?

I am sorry to inform you but you're posting nonsense. First link building = offpage SEO. Secondly, why are you posting when you can't even read the question? The question is about the best SEO techniques for 2015 not about busy work, crap and other such unpleasant things.

Not to mention that everything on your list has been posted many times before by other clueless people and, thus, you contributed nothing, ust made sure to show people you don't know SEO but like to talk about it.

Yes, there are a lot of SEO techniques. But the question was, which ones are 'best.' It was not, What are the crappiest SEO techniques.

Your techniques take up a lot of time and effort and give very little in return. Read the posts in this thread to find techniques that give better results in relation to the time and effort required. You'll thank yourself for years to come.

No, Hello Dear to you but Web 2.0 is not best... can be ok, but it's not best.

      Link building is SEO.

Forum posting for SEO is a waste of time, almost all (maybe all by now) forums give nofollow links. Nofollow links don't help with SEO one bit.

Guest blogging? For a link? Even if it is a followed link, unless you or the site owner link to your post, it's a really low value link you get. Low value links are not 'best.' There are far better ways. Read posts above yours.

Nah. A lot of busy work. Let me give you an analogy:
You're saying that working 8 hours for $8 dollars is the best way to make money. I'm saying, it's not. I'm saying working 8 hours for $8000 is a better way of making money.

Read the posts above yours to learn some ways of making $8000 for 8 hours of work; give up on the idea that making $8 for 8 hours of work is best.

By submitting associate degree RSS feed to totally different directories, you offer in our own way for your journal content to induce syndicated and to distribute your backlinks. By submitting the RSS feed you may get below benefits:

    RSS Feed Submission Sites Benefits
