Should I launch or wait?

I have a .com I registered a few years ago and I am finally ready to start developing it.

I have A LOT to do before the site is "ready for launch" but I do have some of it finished or in early stages of development (responsive WP theme, logo / overall site design, basic page outlines, and the boring stuff like "contact us" and "terms and condition" pages). Call it 10% complete.

Here is my question:

Are there any benefits or adverse effects to putting up what I have now? (without building and submitting a sitemap of course)

My plan would be to finish the site over a few weeks but part of me wonders if having something up, that I can tweak in real time, might be beneficial to ranking.

On the other hand, if it doesn't matter either way, having an unfinished site "live" will probably light a fire under my ass. So if it won't hurt my efforts, I'll probably do it.

What you think?

Also, I joined Warrior Forum last week and this is my first post. Hi.

These are all secondary tasks. The things which you'd want to focus on first are:

-- Your niche: Is it in demand?
-- Your target audience: Where is it located? Demographics? Age? Gender?
-- Your content: Is it ready? Do you have at least 25 pages ready-to-publish?
-- Your sales strategy: Are you going to depend upon Google Adsense for your earnings, start with affiliate marketing or just beginning this site to build your list?
-- Your products/services: What are you going to promote?
-- Tracking conversions: Is your tracking ready (e.g. have an account on Google Analytics?
-- Your landing page: Does your theme has it already or are you going to buy it separately?
-- Your autoresponder: Which autoresponder (email service provider) are you going to use?
-- Your backlinks: Do you have a list of websites you'd be guest posting or commenting to? (Don't even consider going for websites with domain authority level below 40).

If you have all the answers to these questions, you'd now need to work on the content writing part:

-- Add at least 25 pages of content within your website. Long and detailed posts are appreciated by Google.
-- If you have done your research, use your keywords naturally throughout your content.
-- Be creative. Add engaging elements within your posts (images, videos, .gifs, memes etc.)
-- Write 'complete' reviews of the products you are promoting.
-- Create a free report or guide to give out to your visitors after they have subscribed to your list.

Then comes the website structuring part:

-- Add pages and categorize them accordingly.
-- Add plugins to help you secure your website and help you with the SEO.
-- Add 'Privacy Policy' and 'Earnings Disclaimer' pages
-- Add sitemap and robot.txt file

    Finally, the designing part:

-- Get a responsive theme + logo + social media banners to do stand out from the crowd.
-- Read some UI testing articles to better understand how are you going to place third-party ads on your website or just want to maximize the visitor engagement value on your site.
-- Use optimized images to keep your bandwidth space free as much as possible.

This is the most basic ground any website would need to kick start the process. Of course, one can always edit his/her tasks accordingly. I'd suggest you to work on the content and layout structuring first before launching your website.

      You've waited years...

No matter. The list you have of things to do is quite useless.

You use WP (gag), you want to do a sitemap (not needed),
contact (who cares), among other such nonsense.

Building a website is not rocket science. Just do it.

You don't have to worry about niche, or pages, or any
crapola like that on some wannabe's list. Useless.

Plugins? Why on earth would anyone NEED a plugin?!?!?!?!?!

I have no idea where some of you live. But it aint in normal-land.

Just build it. Little by little. Add, delete, change, update, whatever.

      Just do it. Or not.

Launch the pages you are sure about and complete, and use robot.txt to stop the crawler to read the pages that are under construction...and to avoid the penalties of google and to convey your msg to your target audience do follow the SEO lines....

Thanks for the welcome and thanks, everyone, for the suggestions.

I'm going to take Shia LeBeouf's advice. Strange dude but that is some Yoda level insight.

It is not not good to just start up a site without having a road map that you have developed that you will use to work on it.but if it is your choice to just lauch it you can go ahead.
