Choose any of the most well-known plugins. They're there to massage your titles, meta descriptions and some other fairly minor stuff. Yoast SEO happens to have the largest fan base at the moment, but most of these fanboys don't actually know WHY Yoast SEO would be any better than some other plugin.

Joost and his team do some stuff very well. Templates, hooks, and the XML sitemaps for example. I've coded my own canonicals and sitemap entries against their API, which is something very nice to have. However, very few would actually have any need for that let alone know how to use it.
