Hi,

Want 5 (or more) free easy dofollow backlinks?

Just came across a gem of a website. Set up a profile at about.me

Here is a quick sample: https://about.me/ashleighjames . You can create lots of links to individual pages on your website.

Zac

P.S. Do you know similar website gems like this to get quick do-follow backlinks? Post them here in this thread. Thanks.

But about.me is just another web 2.0 site. The backlinks you're creating may be followed, but they're on the new (no worth, no PR, no authority) web page of your new account. No big deal, you can do that on just about any web 2.0 account. Go to wordpress.com, create a new, free blog, and you can add as many followed links to your pages as you want. Or am I missing something?

You are not missing anything. This is a totally useless thread.

Fortunately, a bunch of the sheep around here will follow it though and focus on useless crap like this, making it easier for the rest of us to continue to outrank their websites.

      No, you're not.

If you let cynicism creep in, you might think the OP doesn't have good sources of backlinks and is starting a thread in the hope that others, who have good sources of backlinks, will add their sources to it.

Or you might think the OP is setting himself up to sell something on this forum and testing the waters.

But about.com is just as useful as you think it is.

Mike made a straight point to the others to make them realize again and again

Easy do follow links? these are usually low quality sites and Google is wiser than you think!

@DABK how can you explain that these links are good sources of backlinks?

What the OP gave, and the other ones given so far, are not good.
I was saying that, maybe, the OP is trying to get people who know of good link sources, to give them here.

The best ones I've ever used were from sites I created myself or from sites of people in my industries whom I convinced to give me links.

Profile links are not good even if they give you a link with nofollow.

The one the OP gave is better than others because they, at least, give links that are followed by Google.

So, better than nothing and better than sites that give you a no-follow link but not good.

You mentioned PR in your post, do it really matters even now (2015)?

Yes, PR is probably still under the hood. Google just stopped displaying it publicly. This move has made these discussion kind of weird: it's fine to talk about PR as a concept, but referring to PR score tends to be misleading at best.

Internally Google keeps track of PR, they just no longer update the toolbar display of it. It's just as important as ever, it's just that now we can only guess at it. I guess I should always say something like "no PR, as kept track of by Google but unbeknownst to us" or something, but that gets a little tiring. I suppose I could say something like "a page starts with no TF, CF, DA, PA, MozRank" and every other 3rd party criteria people use to denote authority, but that would be tiring as well. And none of those terms are used by Google anyway. So, yeah, I'm still going to toss around the term "PR" now and then.

Saw that site couple of years ago. Social media consultants were all over it because apparently a silly profile page is teh bestest thing eva. Because of, you know, reasons.

It's fairly pointless as a profile, and useless as a link source.

      Enough of the haters already.

I didn't say it was the best source of links ever. I said it was an easy way to get a few quick dofollow backlinks. They all count.

And if you point your ezine articles, and other link sources back to your "about.me" page in order to tell people more about yourself, your "about.me" page will gain a level of authority and so too the links you placed on it. Lots of people are pointing their customers to their "about.me" page to tell them more about themselves. This boosts the quality of the links on that page.

No, enough with the pointless threads such as this. Do you even realize how silly the "haters" line is in the context of technical processes? It's Google algo that's "hating" your links, we're just the bearers of the bad news.

Sure, all the links count if you're only counting the number of links. I have no idea why anyone would do that.

          Hater.

All you've done is come on here and knock my efforts to give people a few quick do-follow backlinks. I didn't see you offering a better source of links. I wonder why.

They are not haters, they are skeptics, many people come here, ask non sense to get a link with their signatures, they point out the obvious in order to start a thread and you seem to be one of them, just 48 posts and one of them (this) is to point out the obvious, dont get mad, increase your post count and yout "thank you" count then the response will be different.

            Cheers.

I don't have a signature so I'm obviously not one of these people that you don't like.

Im just trying to help out some newbies that might be on here. I notice that the people on here with such high post counts also don't seem to be able to give a better quick do follow link source. Or seem to be willing. Getting your first few back links can seem daunting to a newbie - I'm just trying to help them out, and asked people on here to chip in with their help too.

You are not helping any newbies. You are misleading them if they believe this is going to help them rank.

They could get the same kind of fairly useless link on Blogger, Wordpress.com, Tumblr, etc.

There is nothing special about this sort of link. It is a link on a brand new PR n/a page.

Newbies see threads like this, think the OP actually knows what they are talking about, and then months later are starting their own thread asking why their site is not ranking when they have been following all the 'great' advice on Warrior Forum.

Have you been even looking? No, of course you haven't. It get pretty tiresome to post the same stuff to every other thread, and I outright refuse to do it because a whiner gets their panties in a bunch. It's not our fault if you don't understand backlinking, and that's something you need to fix.

Seriously dude, grow up. Only teenagers on image boards would repeat stuff as asinine as "hater" when you've told how asinine it is in the context. And stop patting yourself in the back when there's absolutely no reason.

It's daunting alright. One of my biggest frustrations on this forum is seeing how people build pointless links, and waste their time toiling around. It doesn't make me any happier that you're trying to make the newbies feel good about this sort of activity.

Include the next obvious step that you need to take with a new About profile page, and the thread is instantly much better. Hint: you need backlinks for that page to be a link source that has the potential to help your money site.

Honestly they don't count... It is a useless link. You can have 1000 of these and all you will end up with is 1000 useless links. Not trying to be mean or anything but this is no better then a profile link buddy.

Sorry if i hurt your feelings or offended you in anyway.

No problem. Link your ezine articles and guest posts etc. back to it to let people know more about you and the links on it will gain juice. Just remember that link-building is an ongoing process. Build a little every day and overtime, you will see results.

Also, be careful about buying link services from some of the people on this forum. They don't like people giving away free link sources so you may see some negative comments on here trying to discourage you from building links on your own. They knock people down but don't offer any better link sources of their own because they want you to buy from them rather than build them on your own.

No. Very few commenters are even selling anything.

Your "free link scheme" just happens to be low-value in the form you presented it. You've been repeatedly explained why it's so, but instead of going "whoops, I guess there's a point" you started building ludicrous conspiracy theories to blame others for your own shortcomings.

Of course there's swindlers and fraudsters on WF because the site allows them for some reason, but they're not the same people who comment here. These dubious link sellers regularly get their asses handed to them whenever they decide to peddle their wares in the threads.

Guess what? Like everything in SEO good link sources depend on your niche, industry, and resources. All the simplistic answers tend to miss something. It's not exactly hard to evaluate a good potential backlink, but it's not obvious either.

For example, take a bunch of business directories from a list from a SEO you feel you can trust, and start digging through the link profiles. See what the directory is about, if the backlink profile is any good, how many links there are on a page, if the pages are paginated, and if the links are "followed".

So there's a link source. Happy now? For the record, me and other "negative" commenters also made your original method work.
