Why Isn't My Link Building Campaign Working? Several High Value Links But No Increase in Traffic.

Hey guys,

So I've been link building for a client through content marketing, and I have been getting them some awesome links. Through 3 campaigns over the last couple of months, I've generated over 50 high quality dofollow links, 25 of which are top-tier sites like the Huffington Post, MSN, the A.V. Club, etc.

But their traffic isn't moving. What's the deal? Is quantity better than quality or something?

The content I am creating isn't super on target, but generally related. An example is if it was a dog food company, I'd create a project about fictional dogs in the comic book universe. Is 50 super high quality links not enough to make a difference? Really frustrated.

EDIT: Backlinks are generally to the home page of the client site. Does that matter? Should they be links directly to blog content instead?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

There's slightly more to moving the needle on rankings than just acquiring quality links...
Think about things like why links improve rankings.
