Outranking Nextag, Dealtime, etc

If your doing affiliate marketing for an Amazon Product, is it very hard to outrank Nextag, Dealtime, Buy, etc... ?

I did some preliminary research on a high search volume, low competition keyword and noticed that they all rank at the top. They all have decent site optimization but basically have 0 inbound links and all are 0-2 PR.

What are your thoughts?

    Easy, just build the backlinks slowly. I do 5 a day and bookmark each one. Don't expect to jump serp straight away. My 2 sites took about 3 month to reach number 1.
