How liable are we, as SEO professionals for what our clients do or don't do?

Can we take on a SEO client, who later got investigated or sued and have
repercussions on the others on our client list?
Let's say I have old client A and take on new client B and later it
turns our client B asked me to make claims he can't back up...does client A have anything to worry about?
What if lawyers come in and sue everybody they that's ever been associated
with both directly or indirectly just to rattle the cage of client B
by any means necessary.
Are our old clients liable for the actions of our new clients?
got any ideas on that? I am fully aware that you can't give any legal advice
