Basic SEO for your new website

I see a lot of new clients of us approaching us with a new website that they just built and it's not SEO Friendly so please let me share with you what are the basic steps that should be taken in order to be loved by Google.

1) setup your google publisher id and link it to your website

2) link your google plus page to your site too create a new site in webmastetools and submit sitemap add sitemap.xml to your public html folder

3) create robots.txt

4) add your site to cloudflare free plan to speed page load speeds up

5) create mobile version of your sites

6) create custom 404 page and redirect all 404 requests to your home page

    • I completely agree with you, Keyword research is one of the most important thing need to be done after doing all the basic things mentioned in the post.
  • First create business pages for your business on all social media platform and configured them with the domain.
    then configure your domain with webmaster tools and google analytics.
    then create sitemap and robots.txt file and submit it to webmaster tools.
    use canonical tag, 404 error page and 301 redirection page for your domain.

  • This is all fine, but it's just some technical steps to make your site a bit faster. The site is not more "SEO friendly" after these steps, it just behaves a bit better.

    That's contradictory. If you're 301 redirecting 404s, why do you need a custom 404 page?

    I would not mass redirect 404 request myself unless there's a good reason to do it, but there's two schools of thought on this one.

    SEO Friendly URLs
