Ranking #1 Blog vs Article

I have found a few good keyowrds with 1000+ searches weree the top spot is occuped by a ezine article with only 1 back link,

My question would be how hard would it be to rank a .blogspot blog on it vs a ezine article since the .blog spot would act as a presell I would not have to rely on the clickthrough from the ezine article which is usually between 10-15% therefore generating a considerable amount traffic to the sales page but im wodnering if im wasting my time and should just go the route of the ezine article since its proven to rank quickly

If it is possible I would try to purchase a domain name with the keyword. I have had great success in ranking this way and put your presell on that.

I think if you are willing to build backlinks to the blogger blog and optimise your site for the keyword, then you can probably outrank the article.

From what I have seen, unless you build backlinks to an article it can quickly drop from the first page of google.

But why would you want to go through the bother of building backlinks to something that you don't "own"? That is why I suggest purchasing the domain name.

    I hope that helps.

Hit that keyword hard with blogs, and articles, along with any other web 2.0 sites you can come up with. You can do it manually or there are programs like senuke to help. Create link rings that backlink to each other and to your main sites/articles.

Your article may get there first, but in time your blog will take its place for the long haul. I would use blogspot as more of a back link source for your own domain. And I agree that having the target keyword in the domain will help, and it does not have to be in order.
