SEO Query for Sub-domains

I have a site 'xyz.com' and in its sub-domain 'forums.xyz.com' I have a forum installed. The number of links to the root directory is about triple times than the sub-directory. I want to pass the entire link juice to my sub-directory of forum. I don't want to move the forum to the root directory, I want to use the root directory only for my homepage. How can I pass the entire link juice. Should I use canonical tags or something else? Please help.
