Basically,

here is the current structure of the site:

About
Jobs In
Miami Dade
Broward
Consultancy & Studies
Services
SEO Manager
SEO Management
Consulting
Products
would you make your blog your homepage with multiple posts and content changing all the time?
  • your page is always being cached
  • you have fresh and different content
  • when you publish a post it has temporary juicc from your page 1

or you publish it as a folder?

i like this, because im building two authoritative pages, but there is a problem with the categories, the categories then make the url structure longer...
xxxxxxx.com/blog/category/post title.

my issue with this, is the small amount of content on the category page.
and then you have to figure out where to put your blog tab on your navigation:

    Do you intend to rank the homepage? If content is changing, ranking will be hard/harder.

    Why would you make a blog your homepage? I mean, from the point of your visitors, how would having a blog as the homepage help? I'm not saying it never helps, just that you should know why you're doing so it could help.

    What do you want people to do when they land on your homepage?
    What's wrong with having several landing pages?
    If you're sending people to the homepage who look for 1 of say, 3 things, your homepage's job is to help them sort themselves/direct them to what they want to buy.

    If your homepage is supposed to get them information about new stuff ... the blog as homepage makes perfect sense.

    If you're sending people who're looking for SEO packages to the homepage, your homepage better be selling them SEO packages.

    Look at the site of a large bank, for instance...

    They have a tab for mortgages, one for wealth management, etc.. The homepage has a way for the visitor to figure out they sell mortgages and wealth management and gives them the option to move one step closer to forking over money to the bank.

    Do the same.

      Seems to me all the crap you have to overcome by choosing blog software would be avoided by not adding a blog but by just building the pages you want in the structure you want manually.

      Non of my silo's are built on blog software. Too many drawbacks.
