Multiregional+Multilingual Site Indexation Problems.

Hello everyone,
I have a question that is a bit complicated but i would appreciate any help in the matter.
My client had an old multilingual site, we had decided to rebuild the site and in the process create sub-domain for each region, with sub-directories for different languages within the region.
Example - if the international site (which has same URL as the old version of the site) is Example Domain, the site for the European region is eu.example.com and in it there are sub-directories for France and Italy; eu.example.com/fr and eu.example.com/it

I have established hreflangs and alternates for each version as well as 301 redirects that are location based (when someone from France tries to enter the international URL, he will be redirected to eu.example.com/fr)

The problem is that the subdomains no longer appear in google search for the keywords that were ranked in the first page.
Also, the brand name, or even an exact search of the meta title (it's long and not competitive term) does not appear, not even in the first 5 pages.

The subdomains are indexed by google, but i would like to see the rankings return, or at least the brand name to be seen on the first page when it is being searched for.

Thanks in advance for anyone who has read so far, it might be a bit long and confusing.

Any help would be great!
