i have set the language tags in wordpress. but google.co.uk finds and ranks my german website. i want that google uk ranks my english website.

  • You have hard coded those urls and google found them all and gave weight to what it probably thought to be more original. As a programmer I would have placed an english website by default and only switch translations based on session (change session when the user requested it).

If you wish however for all translations to get indexed I suggest you wait until google updates it's cache. It is pretty good at detecting languages so don't worry. Here's their wiki on this matter: Official Google Webmaster Central Blog: Working with multilingual websites
  • Hi,
Do you add geo meta tags on your language based website? If you don't so you can create geo meta and place on your sites. And do you change international targeting on Google webmaster tools?

    • on google webmaster tools i cannot change to international targeting. only austria my local country is available for selecting. is this because of my ".at" domain ?
